Through this assignment, I had the opportunity to interview Sandy Brier, a FACS teacher in Iowa. Sandy studied FACS at NDSU for her first two years of college, but then transferred and received her degree at Valley City in Elementary Education in 1982. She subbed for 20 years so she could be a stay-at-home mom. When she was ready to have full time employment again, she was offered an open position teaching FACS, but she did not a have a FACS degree. So she ended up teaching while receiving her FACS endorsement.…
I have had the pleasure of working with Sandy Stoll, for over 10 years. She possesses great leadership qualities that ensure the highest standards of care for all patients by placing emphasizes and focus on the facility thriving by providing person-centered care to all residents. She is a leader who is compassionate, patient, perceptive to details and very resourceful. She will never say “we can’t,” but is willing to say “we can find another way or a new approach.” She is at all times transparent with families and the team regarding her expectations on patient care delivery.…
Cornerstone Ministries is a church in Export, PA. It has over 4,000 attendees spanned over 3 weekend services and a Wednesday night service. They’ve decided to take church to a completely new level with many unique features that may just be found only at this church. One of these features is something called small groups. Small groups span from kindergarten to 12th grade, and are separated by gender (there are also small groups for adults and they are not separated by genders).…
America has endured many challenges over its lifespan, but what did Americans living through those conflicts of the past think during the time? David Martin was kind enough to share his thoughts and experiences through such trials. He survived the Vietnam War, the Kent State shootings, and the Cold War, wrote the security doctrine for the Air Force, worked on making the country safer following 9/11, not to mention his countless other experiences he was unable to elaborate on. To truly understand the American obstacles of the past, an interview was utilized to examine his life and opinions, until a formal understanding was gained and was able to be combined both with the general information surrounding those events and his own experiences. David Martin’s life displays the changes America has endured in getting involved with the Vietnam War and over the decades, what the average citizen thought of it, and what they did in response.…
McKeesport isn't one of the greatest places to live. In fact, it’s probably one of the worst in Allegheny County. After the decline of the Pittsburgh-region’s steel industry and the influx in gang activity, McKeesport became a cesspool of death, poverty, and demoralization. I moved to McKeesport when I was three. Growing up, McKeesport was always a depressing and discouraging environment.…
When I made the transition from St. Joes to the high school, I had to become familiar with 109 brand-new faces. Before the high school, I had 20 people in my class. Whether your moving schools or just coming into the bigger school in town, it’s going to be crammed with new faces. One of those faces happened to be Brett Hippler.…
The youth raised money to go on the trip, so I decided to help. As always, Pastor Tim used this as an experience to teach us. We asked people to sponsor us to read out loud for an hour. I know it sounds odd, but it began a process which would change my life forever. Originally, Pastor Tim had said we would read the Bible, but He had just read a book he felt would interest us.…
“Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence” -Colin Powell. I will never forget when I was awarded one of the two “Most Outstanding Musician” awards when I was a 7th grader at Neil Armstrong Middle School.…
I had similar experience, which was explained in No.1, on the edge of entering. I was church shopping when I came to the USA 20 years ago. I went to almost every church in the town. I didn’t feel welcomed, most churches wanted to convert me to Christianity in spite of telling them I am a Christian. For most of them since I am from India I am a Hindu and I need to be converted to Christianity.…
It made me feel so much more comfortable with my situation as I felt like I was wanted in a…
They call me Vanish and for the past two years, I have traveled the globe performing for the James Uptown Productions Company as their youngest magician on the circuit. Last week my manager told me that since I had a five-day hiatus between gigs, he had made arrangements for me to attend The Art of Disappearing, symposium. At five this evening my private plane from Paris landed on the tarmac in St Louise and by six, I was staring out the window of the Penthouse on the eighth floor of the Star Route Hotel.…
The first day I met Holly Reeder was a scary one. For many reasons, one that I was a 6th grader in a high school Sunday school class and two because Holly always terrified the poop out of me. Turns out that neither were anything to be afraid of because the class was actually incredibly entertaining and still is and Holly ended up being super nice. Therefore, yes I do know Holly fairly well, I see her every Sunday and talk to her about everything that happened throughout the rest of the week.…
Alcoholics Anonymous is recovery group for those suffering with an alcohol addiction. Its program is mainly focused on abstaining from alcohol and achieving sobriety, but also puts emphasis on spirituality and comradery with other members as a form of a family and accountability partners. I attended an AA meeting on Friday, September 9th, and here’s what I saw and learned. The meeting I chose to go to was in my local church at eight pm.…
Jeff’s Epic Journey Jeff was supposed to be the heir to the throne, the leader of the dancing unicorns. He lived in the perfect world. Everything was good for him and everybody else in the kingdom. He was a perfect unicorn. He had pink eyes, rainbow colored hair, and had a perfect horn.…
Assessment Interview Report I decided to interview Pastor John, who is the senior pastor of the New Life church in Tooca, Georgia. I wanted to get a new perspective of curriculum in the way of making disciples. I knew that he was on the cutting edge of the missional community group movement in the church. I believe that I can use this information in my future ministry.…
