I recently had the opportunity to interview a really exceptional young woman. In September I interviewed Meggan Goforth not only did I learn about her daily profession, but I learned about who she is as a person. Mrs. Goforth informed me on so many aspects of her profession, she informed me of her responsibilities, educational background and the numerous programs her job offers and so much more. So sit back, relax and let’s dive into Meggan’s wonderful world of social work.
To begin with, Meggan Goforth is employed at Family Core which is held in Peoria, Illinois. Meggan is considered to be a Child Welfare Supervisor, as a supervisor she takes on many tasks at a time. Meggan supervises the case workers and she also supervises the licensed workers …show more content…
As she explained to me she uses an enormous amount of critical thinking in every decision she makes, for example providing a home for a young child. Meggan states that every decision she makes has to be really planned out and she can’t make irrational decisions when it comes to the lives of the individuals she works with. One of her biggest strategies is being consistent since she is a supervisor she has to lead by example in the workplace, she expresses that she does her job in order for the other social workers to do their job. Meggan has to stay on top of her game so the other employees will stay on top of their game. Family Core’s overall mission and purpose is child welfare and to reunify families. At Family Core the team try their absolute best to get kids back to their parents from DCFS which is the Department of Children and Family Services. She describes herself as an introvert so she finds great pleasure being around family, and when she’s having a rough day or hard time she confides in her Mother. Conducting this interview was such an astounding experience. Not only did I learn about how Family Core functions as a Social Work facility, but I got to meet a great individual in the process. Family Core offers many services and programs for individuals of all ages, including children, foster parents, children with behavior problems and single parent households. If an individual is going through a hard time in their life and don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel than Family Core is right, there and ready to help. Family Core focuses on mobilizing and integrating critical resources and opportunities to strengthen families and develop sustainable communities. Family Core has reliable accreditation, they assure that you and the community that Family Core demonstrates effective management and provides high levels of service, quality community programs, knowledgeable personnel and safe, accessible facilities. Family Core has strived for over 100 years and there is no doubt in my mind that they will continue to strive for 100
