When I began to wonder who I should interview for this assignment, I decided to interview my government professor David Prindle because he was the most interesting person. Thus, I began to prepare my meet with him by devising some questions to ask. When I imagined how the interview would go, I thought he would agree to meet me at during his office hours on Friday. I expected the interview to last around 20 to 30 minutes. I figured that some of the answers I would get would be predictable, such as what major he studied in college. I guessed that I wouldn’t ask more than necessary due to my excitement. I estimated that more or less; my expectations would be met. I would later realize how my expectation would both be fulfilled and failed by the …show more content…
It turns out that while I did get lost, and ended up arriving later; I still had thirty-five minutes to spare. When he finally came, I didn’t expect him to have lunch because knew that he had an interview with me beforehand. I started my interview with questions that I thought I needed to ask for this interview assignment. I questioned about his opinions and views about Liberal Arts, and he said that it is a good department to study. When I asked him what made him teach a government class, he unexpectedly stated; that he was a Political Scientist rather than a usual government professor. He mentioned an interesting fact about how The University of Harvard and The University of Texas say that the class he teaches is a government course while other universities say that it is a political science course. He then told how his interest in politics made him pursue what he is now. He has also been teaching Darwin and the Politics of Evolution. I then asked what skills would people learn in his class. He replied that they are required to take his class so it didn’t matter what skills people would learn. I then inquired what about people who already got the credit, or taking this class as

Future Profession Interview When assigned an interview in my freshman level English class, there was no doubt in my mind that Clint Selman, my honors psychology professor, would be my first choice. Professor Selman is by far one of my favorite professors and I, coincidentally, hope to someday have his exact career. Selman works as a professor of psychology at Tyler Junior College as well as a part-time counselor at the Samaritan Counseling Center of Tyler. He has a lot of experience in the field of psychology, so I figured he was my best option to learn how to get the most out of my education as well as help me better understand the career that I want and how to get it.…

He reassures the audience that persuading them to agree with his opinions of these specific matters is not going to be the point of this speech, by saying “We [politicians] go out and we talk to people who agree with us. But it is harder but not less important to communicate with those who do not agree with us on every issue. And it is important to see where if possible, and I do believe it is possible, to find common ground.” He then goes on to compliment them, saying “You are a school which as all of us in our own way tries to understand the meaning of morality. What does it mean to live a moral life.…

I live in Temecula and for many years, I had not seen the essence of having an estate planning attorney to help me with my estate and trusts. In addition to the grief that his family suffered, they also had to deal with several creditors who practically made their lives a living hell. Eventually there were a lot of wrangles between the family members as each one of them tried to hold on to a part of his estate.…

It appeared as though he was trying to inflict fear into his audience. He was trying to warn them that the people they devoted all of their time and effort into educating may not even be hired, because they focused all on their business education and not on any liberal arts. That’s a pretty good way to persuade people. That’s how these people make their living and they don’t want to waste it, nor do they want their school to end up with a bad reputation because their alumni never get…

In order for Tierney to elicit emotional responses from the audience, he first has to gain the audience’s trust through sharing his authority and experience on the topic. He effectively creates a sense of understanding with the audience by letting them know he was both an AP government teacher and college professor which help him further his argument. He says he “taught an AP American Government and Politics course for ten years” and then he goes on to state “I taught for almost 25 years at the college level” (Tierney). For this assignment, I interviewed Felicia Low, a Program Advisor at the School of Public Health. This interview taught me a lot about myself and my interpersonal communication skills when it comes to communication on a one-on-one basis. Prior to the interview, I was a bit nervous since I did not know Mrs. Low personally and never communicated with her face-to-face. I prepared to conduct the interview in a way that it would feel like a normal conversation and not a regular interview. For example, I would not always say things from the interview questions that I prepared, I would sometimes ask a question on piece of information that she would share.…

This interview took place in Dean Vargas’ office. As a first year advisor in the school of engineering, she has been busy in the past month assisting first year students in picking which type of engineering they are most interested in and helping them to plan their schedules for the upcoming year. This meant that she did not have the time to meet somewhere else. If this were not a factor, I would have suggested meeting in a cafe as that would have caused Dean Vargas to view me less as one of her many students and more as an individual woman, coming to her for assistance in navigating the unique set of circumstance women engineers need to navigate. I believe that as a result of holding the meeting in her office and not in a secondary location,…

As I walked into the small building, that in fact looked very enormous at the time, I began to anticipate every answer I would give to the person who interviewed me, so that to them, I would at least seem prepared. Although I had practiced my interviewing skills that very morning, I felt anxious and worried. Not knowing what to expect, many different scenarios ran through my mind, all of which weren't making my situation any better. Questions after questions were asked, all which seemed impossible for me to answer, and I felt as though I blew the whole thing. After the interview, many days passed by, and I had convinced myself that I did not get job.…

Leadership Interview I recently had the opportunity of interviewing Mr. Maity who has more than ten years of experience in leadership positions within his organization. He started his career after grad school with a small non-profit research organization. His leadership abilities were quickly realized and he became a part of a large company as a Project Manager. He recalls that in his first job, the small size of the company and the nature of operations meant that soon after joining the firm, he started taking up multiple responsibilities with many being outside of his core functional role. This valuable learning experience has allowed him to excel in his current leadership position.…
