My Interest In The Persuasive Communication Program

Improved Essays
I am interested in being part of the Persuasive Communication Program because I know communication is an invaluable skill that is important in all aspects of life. After college, I plan to continue my education by attending business school, law school, or both. I am passionate about studying business and law because I want to make a difference in the world and believe I can do this by starting companies that change people’s lives and representing people who don’t have a voice. I am an active participant in class and hold leadership roles in practically everything I am involved in. I hope to gain the raw skills of persuasive communication and to increase my level of confidence while I am speaking to a group. I have aspired to be an entrepreneur

Queens-dwellers have mixed feelings upon hearing the road running from Jamaica, Queens to Midtown Manhattan, known notoriously as the Boulevard of Death, is ultimately undergoing much needed reform. On July 23, Mayor De Blasio announced the implementation of a $100 million dollar project, called Vision Zero, which will completely reconstruct the boulevard, making it a safer place primarily for pedestrians and bikers. Queens Boulevard is the widest street in New York City (175-225ft) on which more than 60,000 cars navigate tedious traffic jams everyday. Since 1990 to date, an outstanding 185 people, predominantly elderly pedestrians, have lost their lives on Queens Boulevard. Hence, Vision Zero’s blueprint involves inputting safer crossings, more crosswalks, protected bike lanes and pedestrian refuges.…

In the article we learn about the good things in having a free community college as well as the negative parts of it. Although there is many opinions to both sides my opinion and the side I am choosing is that a community college should not be free. I believe a community college shouldn’t be free because it's unfair for those who attend a 4 year university and have to pay the double amount of what a community college is normally. In the article Michele Siqueiros says “The promise of free tuition cold make the problem worse by drawing more students to already crowded…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…
