My Influence On My Reading Life

I enjoy reading because it’s something that takes my mind off everything going on around me, at home and in school. I’ll admit, I don’t read as much as I used to a few years ago, but I still find time to find a book to indulge in from time to time. One of the main reasons I don’t read as much as I used to is for the fact that I just have found more excitement in working on animations, drawing, games...But nevermind that, this paper isn’t about my hobbies. I mostly find horror and fantasy books interesting over all the other options I could pick from. I currently am not in the middle of any book in particular, but I’m looking for one to get into and I hope I’ll find soon. A big part of my reading life all started with the book, “ A Tale Dark and Grimm “ which was about a girl name Jill, and a boy named Jack who went around their world fighting off any monsters that got in the way. It put a dark twist on classic fairy tales, expect they all were going along a story plot, and didn’t change inbetween chapters. There are also two more books that lead on the first book, as well. But anyway, that got me back into reading in 5th grade because I found a …show more content…
Fode did. My mom used to have me read for about one to a half an hour every night before bed, so that helped me read a lot of books and boost my intellectual bases. I went through a few books faster then normal that way. But I have to say I haven’t done that reading before bed since around 4th or 5th grade. And for Mrs. Fode she helped by making it fun in class. Like with the reading bathtub, letting us go around the room to find a place to sit and read, and she even held a reading party in class one time. We could come to school dressed up as a character from our favorite book, or one that we were currently reading. And for most of the day we could just find a spot to sit and read our book we brought. It was a lot of fun back then, I must

Having been homeschooled for the first twelve years of my life, I had a rather untraditional childhood. While my friends were required to go to school from 6:20 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon, I was at home studying or on a field trip to some relevant lecture, the library, or a museum. Because of this less rigid environment, I usually had a lot of time available to me in addition to my school time. Using this excess time for my own personal interests, I developed a penchant for reading at an early age.…

My life has never revolved around writing, reading, but definitely not writing. To be honest, I’m not even sure when I learned to read and write, all I remember is the fact that I had the ability. In the first grade, I remember being in a church youth group where they wanted the high schoolers to do a play but wanted one younger kid to be in it. The age they had in mind was a kid who was in upper elementary or middle school, but my mom told them to let me try anyways. They decided to let me join the play, because they were impressed by how well I could read, I even helped the high schoolers memorize their lines and whispered them to them throughout the play.…

A girl at school once asked me, “How are you in this constant state of reading?” I laughed because the answer is simple: I love to read. I chose books as a symbol because reading and literature is very important to my culture and my family. When my father was young, his grandmother used to read to him every day, and my father did the same for my siblings and I. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to read, and I own many books that I keep on shelves.…

Reading Memoir John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars, stated,” Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood.” Actually, reading books helps me to explore the world. When I was just a little girl, I loved reading fairy tales which brought me to many vicarious thrilling adventures, and when growing up, non-fiction books taught me how to become a good person. Besides that, reading has brought me to many various levels of emotions, such as joy, love, hate, fear, and sorrow. Some stories not only make me feel euphoric with happy endings, but they also make me feel despondent when a character’s deep sorrow touched my heart.…

I couldn 't find a way to make myself interested in the things I was reading. Every year there was a new summer reading assignment and every year I didn’t read it. I would try to but along the way I would end up opening Sparknotes and reading the summaries of each book instead. At times I felt bad because I knew that I should be taking advantage of the access I had to those books, but they bored me. I longed to be able to dive into books and absorb everything in them, but I couldn’t get more than my toe in the water.…

When I was young I was never the best at reading even though my parents owned many books and magazines that they read on a daily basis. My mother enjoyed reading her gossip magazines that she would receive in the mail once a month and my father had a whole bookshelf full of history books. My parents would always encourage me to read the books I would check out at the school library to improve my reading and writing but that advice usually went in through one ear and out the other. The only books I would really attempt to read had to be humorous or horrifying, my favorites were the Goosebumps collection. I loved reading these books alone in my room where I couldn’t be sidetracked by all the commotion that went on in my house.…
