Literacy Reflection Paper

Literacy, the ability of reading and writing, has always been an important factor of my life. I’ve grown from my days in preschool, where I learned to write my name. I’ve now entered college, where I’ll learn to write detailed essays. I feel as if writing, reading, and I started at the edge of a mountain. Each time I write, there is growth expected, it’s like climbing a mountain. You don’t know which obstacles may come in your way, but you’re striving to reach the top. Unfortunately, because I’ve had some bad experiences with reading and writing growing up, I’m not as successful as I believe I should be, but knowing my journey isn’t over gives me enough courage to be great. Yes being in these classes looked well, but the teacher didn’t teach in detail as they would the average student. The reason is, teachers look at the accelerated student as someone moving ahead, expecting them to know the material. Leaving the students who don’t know the material overlooked, not being able to advance in the quality of their work. I felt uncertain about what I was reading. So when I discovered what spark notes were, I found heaven on earth. I totally abandoned reading. , Since the spark notes summarized important parts of the book, the spark notes helped me with multiple choice quizzes, and discussions with the class. Then my teacher began to dig deeper with questions other than what the spark notes offered me. The first time she started to dig deeper was my opportunity to start reading the book, but of course I didn’t have enough sense to start reading the book. My grades began to drop tremendously, and before I knew it the quarter was closer to the end. With my final being the last score to be added to the gradebook, this was my last chance to bring up my grade. With only a couple of days left, I had no time to read an entire
