Those including Hispanics. That was about all we had from when I was growing up. I made many friends that came from different backgrounds and diversities including Hispanics. Some of my best friends at the time were of that group. I do not have a fond memory that I can recall with some friends that were of a different minority, just that I know that I had friends that were diverse. My feelings of diversity and intersectionality didn't matter to me because it was amazing to just have friends that I could relate to and have a common interest with. It was great to hear about where they came from if they lived somewhere else before settling to Satanta. From my aunt Laurie, who is my grandmother's sister, she married a Hispanic named Angel. There they had three kids named Andrew, being the oldest, Aaron, and Sarah being the youngest. I got along with them and realized that they were of a different race but that didn't change the way I thought of them. I actually thought it was amazing to have family that was of a different race, when a majority was of Caucasian. They lived in Hooker, Oklahoma which is about an hour from Satanta. We would meet together to have a Christmas there because my grandparents were from Hooker, which was always a blast because I got to see my other grandparents. Now Sarah has her own cosmetology business and has been with this guy named Chase for quite some time. Andrew works at the school penitentiary and works with troubled kids. From what I can tell he really enjoys it and he's great with them. Aaron spends his time with sports and has coached the men's and women's basketball teams for Hooker, who have done pretty well.
Throughout this whole review of my life and how diversity has played a part in it, I feel as if that I have come to appreciate more of what my family has to offer. I am honored to be a part of the different groups my family occupies and what makes them stand out from others. This class has also reminded me that you can't determine how someone can be.
