My Ideal Block Experience

Improved Essays
I love the concept of the Block schedule because students and faculty work closely to immerse themselves in material that other schools would complete over a full semester. This opportunity will help me with time management and concentration, which will prepare me for the most rigorous courses in future. This schedule preserves plenty of free time, which is important because I will be able to develop my character by participating in organizations and pushing myself to come out of my comfort zone.

Moreover, in my ideal block experience, I would make genuinely close friends who understand where I come from and accept me for who I am. I want to work with students who take their goals seriously, working tremendously to accomplish their career,

In their book Paying for the party, Armstrong and Hamilton discusses how universities take class differences and class projects of distinct women to define what will be their college experience. In their book, Armstrong and Hamilton defines class projects as individual and class characteristics that defines a person’s agenda and orientation to school. Hence, people with similar class projects not only shared the same financial, cultural and social capital, but also the same expectations toward school. As a result, Armstrong and Hamilton claims that students with similar class projects end up becoming a collective constituency and a representative group for the university, whom in turn must take their interests to form a college pathway for…

As for the student, they would be able to have more time to ask questions and fully understand the lesson that is taught to them. The block scheduling system creates specific advantages to students as well. For composition courses, the block schedule would give more opportunities to retake the course if the student fails it the first time. There is more opportunity to take classes earlier as there are more slots to fill by the block schedule, instead of the regular schedule. This would then give more space to retake any kind of class that you might have failed.…

Imagine not having to take home an hour worth of homework everyday because of the lack of time you are given to do work in class. Many schools are switching to block scheduling due to higher rates of success in students, but not all have switched over. Block scheduling will allow students more time to complete assignments and will allow teachers more opportunities to better teach their students as well. Schools should switch over to block scheduling because it will better prepare their students for the future, and will most likely affect their grades in a positive way. Block scheduling allows students the opportunity to take more advanced placement classes.…

I implemented this block plan with a 3 year old girl at Lincoln Circle Center for my class EDU 145. I chose the block plan because I believed these activities promoted the child interest and awareness of shapes by providing experiences with matching, grouping and identifying different shapes. It also encouraged her to learning shapes in many ways. Through this plan, I assisted the child in building different shaped tunnels with large blocks and pieces of cardboard. Then asked her to sit or stand on, in, and behind the structure.…

Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect; well it is a concept that states "small causes can have larger effects". Now this is only a concept, but it makes a lot of sense in the way that if you decide that you want to skip school one day and do something illegal, like drugs, then that tiny decision you made could drastically change your life forever. The smallest decision could have the biggest impact on someone, and in my case, completely change my life. When I decided to make a schedule and set goals for myself each week, i became more positive, less stressed, received better grades, became more organized, and just overall had a healthier mindset.…

Process Analysis Students in school wonder if it 's possible to get all A 's in their classes or maybe just one class. I’m going to start off with experience from school. With some of the experience that I had in school I think it is possible to get an A but the student has to be on the ball and not slack off at the end. Students just have to try hard and not get distracted when they are doing their work or studying. If they could do that then there will be no problem on passing the class with a good grade.…

Our initial and final syllabi represent two snapshots into our class-- how we originally expected our class to be formatted, and how the course ended up arranged. While there are several commonalities between our two syllabi, there are also some differences. Many of the similarities stem from the fact that all of the days/activities we had on our original syllabus (discussion days, guest speaker days, etc.) remained present on our final syllabus; the major change came from a new arrangement of those days. The major impetus that led to a change in the arrangement of classes was scheduling our two guest speakers. When we initially reached out to schedule our guest speakers (Sex Jeopardy and CMHS), we did not realize quite how difficult…

Helping children understand routines and classroom schedule are very important as it helps the child feels safe and secure because they know what will happen next in both a routine and with a classroom schedule. Classroom schedules and routines also help the teacher build a relationship with the student, helps them when planning and also helps with child guidance. Research indicates that the structure of the classroom environment, paired with planned instruction, supports the development of social emotional skills as well as prevents behavioral issues. Having routine or classroom schedule can also prevent behavior problems, help a child understand what is supposed to happen next like an expectation, and also help the child learn engagement…
