My Idea Of Good Writing

My idea of good writing would be the ability to effectively analyze text and write a piece of work that successfully incorporates the analysis. With this also includes revising and making sure that all arguments and points are easily understood. My idea of good writing has changed because throughout the course I have realized that everyone has their own style of writing. Even though we all write differently, in the end, if the final product is understandable and scholarly then the writing is good. With the change of my perception of the idea of good writing, my perception of academic writing has also been shaped by threshold concepts throughout the course. One of the threshold concepts that changed my perception was the idea that prior literacy experiences informs one's writing performance. This threshold concept shapes the idea in my mind that the way that people write and analyze is based on the way they wrote and analyze pieces of literacy in the past. When writing the research paper, there were a couple of terms that helped shape my writing skills. The first term that helped was academic arguments, which are arguments backed up by evidence from academic sources. This changed the way I did my research for writing my paper by causing me to shift the way I use to do the research which was just to use google and use anything that popped up to now searching for articles and journals that have been peer-reviewed. This change has lead my writing to have more ethos and become more scholarly. The second one is activity theory in which helped me analyze the discourse community that I discussed about in my research paper. By knowing the breakdown of a discourse community, I can find the tools, motives, and so much more of a community and effectively write about
