My Homework Is Wrong Essay

I kept my head down and walked as quickly as I could for my locker, my bag held tightly against my chest because it was one fewer thing to grab to trip me. And it made it harder to steal my homework. It wasn't a perfect system, because if my tormentors wanted to take my homework, they would. But usually they didn't. At least not on the way out. “I'll bet. I wish I could keep people out of my locker like that.” He gestured to his bookbag, a reinforced camping pack that looked pretty heavy. “I just keep it all with

Chapter One Zaphkiel sat on the green grass that was beginning to turn yellow, contently watching the pink and orange sky. The trees around him stood still, but the air was stiller as if the whole world were frozen in time. As the sun sank behind the horizon, a cold wind broke the stillness. Red and orange leaves fluttered to life in the gust of wind. Some of them broke free from their branches to dance in the breeze.…

Bruises hurt. Growing up with the uncomfortable yellow-green of an old battle wound sustained from being an adventurous kid wasn't much of a surprise. The off-shade violet of a deep one, or the angry red of an underdeveloped one, on the other hand, is a more recent discovery. Receiving them daily has become a required hindrance when being chased by your neighbor's sex crazed Pit bull. I could have gotten a car to avoid him --my town is small and my mother never thought I needed one--…

    I Am Sorry Essay

“I’m sorry.” Two simple words that can be articulated to mean a number of different things. Two words that, unfortunately, we have been exposed to our entire lives. Two words that are perceived as a good thing, yet in all reality symbolize the acknowledgment of unacceptable acts. When these two words are strung together to create a sentence that will invariably be answered with a quick “It’s okay”, it is easy to assess what has just happened.…

When most people think of a history class they imagine sitting in a dark lecture hall taking notes off a PowerPoint presentation, memorizing a few dates and people, repeating it on the test. Truly studying history, I learned, is more than memorization of a previously told story and accepting it as true. In this class I have learned history is about actively engaging the material, picking apart the details and nuances, creating and using timelines, finding deeper meaning in the material, asking questions, then looking again and digging deeper. It is not a passive study and not about memorization as I believed at the beginning of the semester. History is about asking questions and looking for answers, not just accepting what is already there, but…
