I kept my head down and walked as quickly as I could for my locker, my bag held tightly against my chest because it was one fewer thing to grab to trip me. And it made it harder to steal my homework. It wasn't a perfect system, because if my tormentors wanted to take my homework, they would. But usually they didn't. At least not on the way out. It was much better to let me leave with it and take it before I turned it in. Their grades had improved dramatically since they'd figured that out. Occasionally I considered sabotaging my homework, but they didn't always take it, so I couldn't risk it backfiring on me.

I thought hard about how much I could afford to tell him, and decided that since the fact that I had powers was out of the bag there wasn't much reason not to answer.
