“Ugh!” I begrudgingly mutter to myself as I roll over to shut off the cacophony coming from my alarm clock. I trudge into the bathroom to take a shower where I see a despondent face staring back at me in the mirror. Before I know it I am sitting in traffic on my 2 hour and 15 minute commute to my office when BANG! An 18 wheeler truck smashes my rear bumper. While exchanging insurance information I yet again see a reflection of my morose face in the tinted window of my car. An hour later, I step into my office, I am greeted by my boss. While he vigorously and violently shakes his arms and yells at the top of his lungs I stare back at an image of my glum face in my black computer screen. Proof of this can first be seen through my high school soccer career. During my Sophomore and Junior years, I was chosen to play on the JV team which is something that would discourage most players. Once my senior year came along, I could either settle and be a bench player or work hard and become a starter. In the offseason I dedicated time to training sessions with my teammates, lifting weights, and going on runs. Ultimately, I was chosen as a co-captain and at the end of the season, I led the team in both goals and assists. Additionally, I carry my dedicated work ethic both on the soccer field and in the classroom as I am able to maintain a rank in the top 3.5% of my class. I challenge myself by taking rigorous courses, while I am able to fully understand the material and maintain a high grade. I would answer, “I wanna be successful!” Ever since I was young, success was something that I craved; however, as I’ve matured, my definition of success has changed. At first I defined success as being wealthy, but as my life has progressed, I’ve realized that not everything in life is about money. Personally, to be successful, I want to make a difference in the lives of others. In my future, I plan on allowing a mix of my passions for hard work, travel, and risk taking to steer the way towards my success. I see myself traveling overseas to a third world country to help transform the lives of less fortunate children, whether it be teaching them English, supplying them with adequate soccer gear so they can have some fun, or mentoring them to pursue an education. I know with my work ethic, my ability to see the world differently, and my risk taking, I will be able to overcome any obstacles that cross my path, which will allow me to change the lives of others and live my own version of a successful
