Through experiences, both in and out of school, I am confident in my ability to write at the college level. Writing is not the easiest thing in the world, although I suppose it is easier for others, but through challenging curriculum and assignments that really makes one think, my skills have been honed for what is ahead. I have had the privilege of being taught by amazing teachers with whom I have read a plethora of classics. However, they taught me more than just classics. They taught me to be passionate about whatever I may write about, no matter the subject. It is through their passion for what they taught, how they taught it, and how they wrote that my writing ability is where it is today.

During AP Biology, I encountered many lab write-ups that not only took up a lot of my time, but also showed me a different side to writing. This side of writing was more exact and calculated; I had to show facts and observations rather than expressing feelings or telling a great story. It did not hurt that I also had a “Writing Workshop” class dedicated to improving writing skills and having two parents who enjoyed writing and reading more than the average person as well. Moving on from writing just in school, I myself have read and wrote a lot outside of the classroom. From reading the current, trendy book series to writing on my blog about my day, I have experienced writing in many different forms. Even with all of that, I truly made an effort to come into writing in my own manner; absorbing each lesson that came my way in each subject and through each teacher then transforming it into my

Literacy Narrative I did a lot of writing while I was in the tenth grade. The English teacher I had at the time was the best when it came down to writing. I did not have too much interest in writing at the time but Mrs. Perez changed that, she gave me a new perception on writing and how it can change society. Mrs. Perez would always recommend really good books, one of which was a book called “His Dark Materials”. This story is about a young girl and her allies, fight for the discover of a dark substance called the “Dust”.…

Semester Test As the only sophomore in a class of many juniors and seniors, I felt as if my past writing approach was premature compared to my classmates. To succeed I thought I needed to stick to the rules when writing introduction paragraphs, body paragraphs, and conclusions, which made writing papers not very fun. While participating in this class, though, I realized that my style of writing was not to stick to the basics; my style of writing was my personality!…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

    A. Introduction For my personal learning experience I chose to learn how to juggle. This was chosen because it is something that always looked fun, and I figured why not give it a shot now! At first it was just attempting to juggle without any kind of prior knowledge on it, and without any sort of help or guidance. But, eventually I resorted to using YouTube videos to help learn how to juggle due to the lack of success.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…

My personal experience and take away from English 111 was what I expected it would be before I started the course. No, there was no “life changing” moment for me from this course and I honestly I can’t say I am a better or worse citizen for taking this class, but I can say my writing skills have improved, and that I feel more confident in my writing than prior to taking this course. Writing has and continues to be a challenge for me, I have no illusion that I will ever be a “perfect” or even a “good” writer for that matter, but because some of things I learned in how to prepare and to write an essay I feel I’m a much improved writer. My previous work experience has exposed me to a variety of team dynamics and I would describe my exposure as very positive. My love for connecting with people has been a major factor in my overall employment success, such as, two management roles before reaching my twenty’s and also a fulfilling career in the financial industry for nine years. Working in a customer service role for the last 14 years I have faced struggles with communication, as well as developed positive skills to work effectively with others. One of the most essential elements I have learned from working as a Financial Advisor is how to build trust with people. I firmly believe this is key to any successful relationship, rather an employment relationship or otherwise.…
