My High School Experience At William Knibb

Decent Essays
These are the things that made my high school experience worthwhile, the bad reports made me pushed further and inspire me to work harder. The number of subjects showed me how to get things done in an organized manner, and the school rules molded me in such. High school has its ups and downs and I can say it is a very important time in our lives that seems to mold us into the persons that we wish to be in the near future. I can gladly say I enjoyed the five years that I spent at William Knibb, it was a wonderful experience and I had some excellent teachers who would stop at nothing until we learn, for that I am grateful. My experience at Balfour Collegiate in Regina, Saskatchewan began much like others. In grade nine I wanted nothing more but to be accepted. I was sincerely lucky in the case that Balfour was one of the smaller schools in Regina, so within time I found my place. How I found my place was involving myself. At the grade nine open house almost every other student stressed, “Get involved!…

When grades were passed out, you could rest assured that every eye that could catch a glimpse at your score did so. Whatever it took to get to the top. Many students were caught plagiarizing, cheating and lying in order to get a higher grade. The competitive atmosphere there was almost more harmful than it was helpful to the students.…

When I first entered high school, I was terrified, but a little excited. The idea of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers, and being in a new environment made me tremble. High school also intimidated me as I made the transformation from “big man on campus” in eighth grade to a young and vulnerable 9th graders. The thought of having new teachers, described by some upperclassmen as “brutal” was also overwhelming. Overall, I had no clue what to expect. My middle school teachers always warned us, “In high school, you are on your own and there is no cushion. Teachers will not hold your hands and help you through every little thing.”…

I have been enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College for less than four months and am the first in my family to go to college. While these circumstances may lead some to repudiate my authority on the matter, I can assure all that the time I've had has been more than enough to create a proper review. Campus life is one area that has defined my experience attending a college. Co-Lin does not have the most alluring campus I have ever visited and, unfortunately, becoming lost is in no way challenging. Until recently, I have unintentionally made a habit of passing my classroom at least twice before realizing where I was.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

What do you remember from high school? Friends, sports, pep rallies, standardized tests. You wouldn 't normally think of standardized tests when thinking of things you remember from high school, but for many students that struggled with them in high school it is a large part of their high school experience. We should stop using Standardized tests in Texas schools because they have changed the way teachers teach in a detrimental way, have delayed students’ graduations, add unneeded stress to students’ and put a strain on already tight school budgets.…

The unbearable nagging, boring lectures, dreadful homework, useless projects, foolish drama, and the famous " timeouts" were created in a prison or what most people call, school. Don't get me wrong, but most of the information your teachers make sure they plant in your heads will be of no worth in this world when all you need to know is how to make it by. I never liked school, from the constant whining of greedy children to the bipolar teachers of high school. If anyone asked me what I hated the most about school, the answer was and will forever be homework. My hatred for homework was so intense that I made it my duty to ruin even the thought of giving out homework throughout middle school.…

The idea of a perfect school has always been a thought, but it’s never been executed. However, with that being said, I don’t think anybody has ever seen Columbia City High School as a perfect school, and they never will see it as a perfect school. With a few changes, the perception of Columbia City High School could be slightly better than it currently is. Columbia City High School’s routine day for some students includes extensive classes, incomplete homework assignments, repulsive lunches, and irrelevant―yet required―classes; consequently, students aren’t receiving the maximum benefits from attending school that they could. This can be improved by slight tweaks to the schedule, revamped lunches, and a variety of class selections.…
