My Hero Interview

A lot of people have heroes in their life that have been there with them since the very start such as a parent or grandparent. That's not the case with me, I met my hero July 31st, 2014. I didn't know it then but the cute CIT at Camp Ho Mita Koda would soon become my best friend, my boyfriend, and most importantly my hero.

He's my hero for many reasons but the main reason is he's one of the most caring and positive people that I know. During the process of interviewing my hero, we were sitting down at Red Lobster. I had Skimmed through the paper before starting my interview and I noticed the question that asked, “What Traits do you think this person possess?” immediately I jotted down the first three words that popped into my head. I had to come up with some questions of my own to ask Brad so I asked him “What is the most heroic thing you've ever done?” I already had a feeling I knew what he was going to say and I was right. “I saved a kid from summer camps life when he went super low, he was either 39 or 35 I can't remember. He passed out and wouldn't wake up, I had to give him the glucagon shot. It's weird having the fate of someone's life in your hands” Brad said. My last question stated, “Who is your hero?” “My hero is my grandpa of course. He's the only one in my life who's cared about me and who's been there for me. Don't worry though Sarah you are my hero too.” Brad reassured.

Looking back at the dock, the security of solid land gets smaller and smaller. I think of how my crew and I had to lug our gear- diving suits, flippers, goggles, BSD vests, regulators, bulky air tanks and all- onto the boat. I turn my eyes to the blue abyss ahead of me, but it is not the soft light blue-green that we find at the shallow end but the deeper, more somber blue that represents the enigma of the ocean and the journey that lies ahead of me. Then the boat stops moving and it's time to get ready for our first dive.…

RARELY has obedience laid upon me so difficult a task as this of writing about prayer; for one reason, because I do not feel that God has given me either the power or the desire for it, besides which, during the last three months I have suffered from noises and a great weakness in my head that have made it painful for me to write even on necessary business. However, as I know the power obedience has of making things easy which seem impossible, my will submits with a good grace, although nature seems greatly distressed, for God has not given me such strength as to bear, without repugnance, the constant struggle against illness while performing many different duties. May He, Who has helped me in other more difficult matters, aid me with His grace…
