Personal Narrative: My Sister Is My Hero

When you think of a hero, you might automatically think of your favorite childhood superhero like Superman and The Hulk, but in my opinion, a hero doesn’t have to be someone who can save lives or have any kind of magical power. Instead, a hero can be someone you can simply look up to and depend on throughout your life. Whenever I think of a person I admire as a hero, I automatically think of my sister. She has always been there for me when I needed her and she has never thought twice about helping me out. I honestly know I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for her. She has many qualities and traits that I admire and wish I had myself. Those qualities include her positive attitude, her patience to listen, her successfulness, her creativity, and last but certainly not least, her basketball skills.
I believe my sister knows me more than I know myself, so she always knows when and how to cheer me up. That is one trait I love about my sister. She is always so happy and knows how to put me in the best mood when I’m having a bad day. It’s very rare to see my sister mad or upset. She could probably put anybody in the best mood instantly with her light and cheerful attitude. When I was younger I wanted to be just like her. She always has been very good at the sport, so of course I wanted to play just like she did. She taught me all I know about basketball and I played Jr. Pro and for the middle school my sixth grade year. Still to this day, she can always beat me at a match of one-on-one. I loved playing basketball until I quickly realized the running wasn’t for me. That’s when I became a cheerleader.
