My Heritage Speech Outline

I gave my heritage speech on my dad who is my biggest role model on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018. The purpose of this speech was to talk about someone important to me and share their personality, adventures, and lessons learned from them. Before the speech I felt very nervous and shaky. I felt like I didn’t know what I was going to say even though I had practiced it over and over. I believe I followed my outline in terms of structure and planning. 1. I believe there were some positive aspects of my speech. Firstly, I was not a nervous when speaking in front of the audience. This allowed me to have the speech flow smoother than last time. I was not expecting the audience to be as large as it was this time; but I think the increase of people might have helped easy some of my anxiety.…

More or less, I got the reaction I wanted from the audience. I felt like it was not so boring that I lost anyone, and I definitely got a couple laughs at some of the jokes I tried. If I were to rewrite or perform my speech again, I’d probably do a few things differently. The main thing I’d do differently, would be to look up from the paper more. Before giving my speech, I did not think this would be a challenge, but once I was actually up there with all my nerves, I found it pretty difficult, to sustain speaking without looking at my script.…

The speaker did well on speaking clearly, made a good eye contact, and most importantly was he had a good transition throughout his speech. Firstly, he spoke very clearly through his speech because I can hear each of the single words that he spoke. It was important that the audience hear what he is talking about. Secondly, he made a good eye contact to the audience. He did not just focus on reading his note cards.…

I wanted to speak louder and clearer, but it was hard for me because I was very sick and losing my voice. That did not help me unfortunately, but I still tried as hard as I could to make myself speak louder. During this speech I was also able to control my nerves a little better than the first time. I was less nervous this time than I have ever been publicly speaking in my life. I felt a little shaky, but I didn’t have any pins and needles or numbness in my face, which I am very proud of.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

When it comes to public speaking, my experience is quite barren. In fact, I have done only one public presentation in my entire life. Up until my enrollment in Olympic College I was never tasked with the objective of delivering a speech in front of an assembly. Considering the fact that I am a reserved person, I felt lucky to have avoided the attention that comes from such an event. In retrospect, it wouldn’t hurt to have gained some early experience with the craft.…
