My Hardest Struggles As A Writer

Decent Essays
When writing, I struggle with many things. One of my hardest struggles is grammar and meeting word minium requirements. When writing I get distracted by trying to keep up with the word count, and lose focus on everything else that is just as important than the amount of words that I am required to have. Throughout my years of writing, I was taught to, first write everything down that comes to mind while our juices are flowing. After, I use this technic, then shortly after I run out of thoughts and my paper turns into crap. I run out of things to say and I begin to add false information. When I write, I am not good at correcting grammatical errors. I add commas where I believe that they look good. If I do not think that I am using correct pun.

Imagine a young girl, about three year’s old sitting in her wooden rocking chair surrounded by picture books. They are sprawled all over the floor, and here she sits and “reads” aloud to her stuffed animals. But, she doesn’t know how to read, so she makes the story up based on the pictures she sees in the book. Now imagine the same young girl, now she is five years old. She sits on a chair with crayons of every color, coloring books, and paper spread across the kitchen table.…

I wrote one “source-based argumentative essay” in high school: my final essay from sophomore English. The guidelines were to write a four to eight page paper on any topic of your choice, but the thesis of the paper had to come across clearly. At the time, my personal goals were to write about something no one else would, as well as get an A in the class. As a future collegiate writer, I feel as though I have the habits and potential strengths to be successful, but my biggest weakness is that I do not know how to write a professional essay and I am a reluctant editor.…

Over the first semester I feel I have been appropriately challenged in the area of writing we have done this year. I learned many new skills, but the most important one involves English and how to write properly. As for the first writing, I really did not understand what was right and what was wrong. Because I never paid close attention to specific rules in how to write. I truly believe it has been hard for me.…

Who doesn’t struggle with writing? I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…

With every new class I have ever taken, came new experiences, new knowledge, and self improvement. Which have all made me into a better student and molded me as a person. If I was writing a paper that required a specific number of paragraphs or pages I would typically plan my paper using the four square method. If I was writing an important paper I would write a rough draft, then as I was typing it I would revise it and fix any mistakes I found. One thing that remained consistent in my writing process, no matter the type of paper, is after I wrote the paper I would try to find more grade level appropriate words instead of the simple words I originally used. While writing essays for this class I came to find it is better to combine my writing processes to write the best possible essay I could. I found the best steps for me to take in writing my paper are to write my ideas down in some form.…

Over this semester, that is soon to come to a close, there have been many opportunities to watch growth not only within my writings, but also within the approach to the process as a whole. As I look back over my essays that I have compiled these past few months, I cannot help but notice how much I have grown as a writer and interpreter of other’s works. As this is true, there are also various different strengths and weaknesses involved. Both the strengths and weaknesses can range from various different things, but all together it never defers from the quality that can be produced in the end. It is truly interesting to go back and evaluate all the work from the past, and it can only provide insight for continued growth in the future.…
