My Hair Is Too Frizzy

Decent Essays
Why? Mom, why do people say that? Mom, why don’t you look like me? As a young girl full of curiosity, why was heavily used in my vocabulary. Argumentative, and curiosity, seemingly unrelated, but I found a way to connect them. I would contend with my mother about anything, and would challenge her statements with a simple why? Why has always been my defense tool, a secret weapon if you will. When there is a sense of uncertainty in one’s answer I seek the weakness in an argument using “why” as my rebuttal. Why strikes people with their innermost thoughts, and makes self questioning obligatory. From time to time, I might ask myself why. Why do I feel like my hair is too frizzy? Why do I think changing my hair will validate myself to the world?

To all the doctors, teachers, peers, and family members who didn’t believe I would amount to greatness, thank you.
