My Gymnastic Analysis

Similarly to music, I utilize exercise as a form of expression. It aids me as a healthy outlet for my stress. I often will workout after a stressful day at school or work and I am able to release endorphins, while gaining positivity. My array of sports has been limited by both socio-economic status and location. Firstly, I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and although Madison possess an abundance of opportunities, the opportunities are quite expensive. My mom decided to work extra shifts to pay for my gymnastic lessons when I was a girl, but after an injury I was forced to quit. By knowing that my gymnastic lessons were a privilege and not a frivolous activity, I worked much harder, I enjoyed my classes, and I competed to the best

Sport and physical activity are a significant influence on the meaningfulness of life for all cultures. Throughout the course of history culture groups have used sport and physical activity to assimilate themselves into their respective society. Both African American slaves and Japanese Americans held in internment camps along with, young Caucasians have all used sport and physical activity to accomplish three goals. These cultural groups have all used sport and physical activity to build community, achieve recognition and distract themselves from their current situations. The article that I read entitled, Sport and community in California’s Japanese American “Yamato Colony”, deals a lot with sport as a significant influence on the meaningfulness…

In elementary school I was a part of a little league baseball team, in middle school I ran track, and in high school I became an even more diverse athlete by joining the baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. It was during that time when I realized my passion for sports medicine.…

I believe that my level of mental and physical fitness has helped me to meet and exceed my goals associated with my accomplishments as many of those accomplishments are related to improving and supporting my mental and physical well-being. For example, some of my accomplishments include my ARCT (Associate of The Royal Conservatory of Music) in piano performance, level 10 violin, black belt in taekwondo, grade 8 ballet, etc. I believe that these accomplishments have not only provided me with a sense of achievement but they have also helped to keep my body and mind in a healthy and responsive state. To add, music was a way in which I was able to escape my stress and focus my energy on something other than school work. In terms of dance and taekwondo,…

When I was seven years old, my mother took me to a gymnastics center to see how I would like it. As a little girl, I loved to climb trees and jump on our trampoline so it only seemed natural that I would fall in love with gymnastics. I began at the beginner level and over the next eight years, I would become a competitive Level 8 gymnast. My mother knew from the beginning how much I would love it. Over those eight years my family moved four times and we eventually ended up here in Tennessee.…

If I could only select one interest to continue with, I would undoubtedly choose gymnastics. My last competition season is approaching fast and I cannot relinquish the practices after school, the meets, or the girls. I feel a strong connection between myself and gymnastics because I have done it for over 12 years and the people I have encountered have pushed my life in a postive direction. These personal encounters with people and with the sport have taught me life lessons that I cherish and apply to my everyday life. Teamwork, time management between work, practice, and school, and leadership are exquisite examples that this sport have given me.…

It seemed as if I would cause mayhem every time I moved a muscle. I never could find a way to stay idle. In the last couple of years, I have been weightlifting in the gym. I initially took it up to gain strength and a leaner physique at the behest of my boyfriend, but partial credit is owed to my mom, who always inspired me to do what I want and be strong. Weightlifting to me is very rewarding in that I gain physical strength and confidence, yet there 's no one to compete with but myself. It 's about personal goals and being my personal best--not just physically but in all aspects of my life. Though traditionally weightlifting was solely for men, recently more and more women are getting into it.…
