My Greatest Strength Analysis

Decent Essays
My greatest strength as it pertains to becoming a PA student and a graduate PA is my ability to pick up on information or medical procedures pretty quickly. Once I observe a Physician or a Physician Assistant performing a certain task or physical exam I can quickly learn how to perform it myself. I attribute this trait to my explicit attention to the small intricate details as it pertains to medicine. On the other hand, due to my natural emotional nature, my greatest weakness would be being too emotional with my patients especially if they have a terminal disease. I say this is my weakness because it can make me depressed and sad and that sometimes can affect other interactions I might have with my other patients.

My greatest strength is that I am a compassionate person; I am easy to approach and I am a good listener. I have been told that I am a person who can empathize with others, and consequently, people find comfort in sharing their stories with me. Compassion is an important characteristic for a physician assistant to possess because patients should be able to feel comfortable in the care they are receiving during their most vulnerable state. Also, as a student, I am very inquisitive and eager to learn new things. I am constantly reading up on the news whether it is about the country's economy or an article on art history.…

My strongest ranking strength is empathy, which is the ability to “sense the emotions of those around you (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006, p. 46). I have used empathy a lot throughout my life by listening to others and by imagining myself in their situation. Over the years, I 've had coworkers confide in me problematic details about their lives. Being able to relate to what they were going through or how they were feeling, created some strong, lasting, friendships.…

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…

When I attended college for the first time, I was an excellent writer. My professors would read my writings out loud as a good example of what they expected from the rest of the class. As it pertains to my writing, I believe that my strengths are possessing an active vocabulary and the ability to transition sentences. In contrast, my weaknesses are run-on sentences and using passive voice quotes. During the writing process, I use a thesaurus to build my vocabulary which helps transition one sentence to another.…

Having the need to have constant acknowledgment is a strength in itself. I will always be trying harder and looking for that recognition from my superiors. Concerning the fact that I neglect my own needs, I will never have my doctors question my priorities because they will already know that I will be doing everything I possibly can. Having weaknesses isn’t always a negative in my case because this will only push me to be better and work…
