My Greatest Passions: Deer Hunting

Improved Essays
One of my greatest passions is deer hunting. The rush, the satisfaction, the connection with nature. I love it all. Some say I can’t be any good just because I’m a girl. Ask my brothers and they’ll say otherwise. In 2014 I shot my first buck. It was a massive, 220 pound, eight point. I was only 12 years old at the time and I was absolutely ecstatic. Watching him fall down to his face in defeat sent my adrenaline racing. I just couldn’t get enough. In 2015 I shot the biggest doe I’ve ever seen. By then I thought I would be used to the adrenaline. I definitely wasn’t. Every time I’ve shot something it felt just like it was my first. Deer hunting is more than just shooting the deer. Sitting around the dinner table and watching my family eat

Dove and Duck hunting are two of America’s outdoorsman’s greatest pastimes. Dove and Duck hunting have always been thought to go hand in hand. Which is not surprising seeing as how everything from the way one starts training before the season opens, to the technique used to clean the birds preparing the quarry for the grill after an extensive morning hunt with friends and family, are near congruent. Although the sports are very much similar, each sport has its own benefits for whatever an outdoor enthusiast may value.…

At the age of 12, I was introduced to the sport of archery through my middle school. I was fortunate enough to shoot in tournaments around the country for four years, not only winning in my state of Texas but other states too. Shooting for my school drove me towards the sport of Bowhunting, and by doing this I found my passion. Through my passion for archery and bowhunting, I would make a business where I could design and manufacture compound bows for both tournament use and hunting. I believe that this business would be a good idea because bow companies and manufacturers today, concentrate too much on how the bow looks, rather than functionality, power, and technological innovation of a compound bow in this day and age could be.…

When we finally got to the stand, I crawled up the ladder and sat down on the seat that my dad had provided for me, anxiously waiting for my time to prove that I really could be a hunter. I set my .270 in the corner and sat there patiently waiting for the sun to rise. Watching the sun rise over the horizon was breathtaking.…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…
