As we are preparing to leave for the day my trainer is quickly moving throughout the clinic to end patient’s treatments and allow them to leave the facility. With our last patient she allows me to remove the needles post treatment. As I gather the tools and use the techniques learned in training I remove the needle and place the gauze, only to find the patient 's blood pooling through and dripping onto the floor. Frantically, I gather more gauze and attempt to stop the bleeding, while my trainer walks over and casually says “Sorry, I forgot he is a heavy bleeder.” She takes control of the patient while I assist with other parts of the discharge. This experience was nerve wracking, but afterwards I couldn’t wait to learn better techniques so …show more content…
From working as a host at an amusement park to substitute teaching to becoming a dialysis technician I’ve always put myself in a position where I could use my diverse skills to grow and help those around me enjoy a better life. At the amusement park I hosted games in a fun and enthusiastic manner, which helped me gain more confidence and experience in public speaking. This as well as my substituting continued to be of use for me as I currently chat with patients about their daily lives and educate them on what they could do to improve their health and obtain better clinical results. Athletics has been something I’ve loved to participate in as it encompases competition, interaction with a wide variety of others, and learning how to better myself solitarily or as a team. During college I had the opportunity to captain my own intramural sports teams. As a team captain I gained leadership skills and ability to handle a group while still managing my own position effectively on the field. I feel this will benefit my future in healthcare and allow me to work as a great team leader and partner in the field I practice. I’ve also become interested in photography and along with my travels, I enjoy taking photos as visual reminders of what I’ve done. These extracurriculars allow me to relieve stress and have hobbies that calm my mind and body. In the stressful field of medicine, this is an important thing I’m glad I’ve added to my life.
I hope to practice medicine in a way that I can learn and later use gained knowledge to make an impact on a larger level. To be able to teach people effective health care strategies and put policies in place based off my actual experiences is a goal I hope to accomplish during my career. As a substitute I get to use my experience to enhance the experiences of kids I teach effectively. To incorporate the things that I love with my passion for medicine is how I plan to excel in medical school and health care as a

This is because ASHP is an organization that is heavily involved in advocating legislation to benefit pharmacists, patients, and the health care system. ASHP is attempting to accomplish these tasks by actively advocating legislation to meet their goals.…
