My Argument Of Reaching Goals

(Intro) There is a limitless amount of aspirations individuals may desire to achieve. Regardless of what each one of us wants to accomplish, education plays a huge roll in the process of reaching goals. It is in this aspect of personal and professional accomplishment that colleges, institutions whose primary goal is to educate, becomes so essential. It is for this reason that I have always been motivated to attend a University. Throughout my time in High School, I’ve been involved in several activities which have pushed me outside my comfort zone and allowed me to be use my voice in a positive way. My goal is to do the same during my subsequent years college and my future career. Additionally, I wish to further develop my character while …show more content…
Once things at home got unbearable, my mother decided to move us into a domestic violence shelter. I had to grow up fast in order to take some of the burden off my mom. While undergoing the divorce process, the program set us up in a duplex apartment. The homes were in a bad part of town, this resulted in our home being broken into. Someone also shot at our car window while we were living there. Our home didn't feel like ours after those incidents. We then had to move into state housing apartments; which weren't much better. We weren’t comfortable with our neighbors invading our privacy constantly. I remember strange men knocking on our door and asking me if I had boyfriend or husband, this was a very frightening time. When I would see my father during visitations, I had a challenging time dealing with him and his family's alcoholism and verbal abuse. They would constantly come in and out of my life; leaving me mentally exhausted. They sometimes even blamed my parents’ divorce on me; often pointing out my faults making and me feel hopeless in the process. These are just a few of the many impactful obstacles I faced growing up. Although I felt alone at first, inspiring people started coming into my life; approaching me with kindness and support. Those people pushed me to become the person I am
