My Goals Of Being At CMC

Improved Essays
Through the diverse, greatness-inspired students and teachers at Claremont McKenna College, I will use its education and community for increasing my understanding of myself and the world. Being at CMC proves one has the determination and highest goals to meet, and being surrounded by people with these qualities will push me to heights I need to meet as well. Making friends with like-minded people wishing to find their own way to really help the world will aid my own search in helping the world, helping the people around me, and understanding myself. Introspection interests me endlessly; CMC can give me more strength to exercise it and share ideas with people who value it as well, creating a community searching for the undiscovered truths

Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

I attended Governor’s School East in the summer of 2015. At Governor’s School I found some of the most accepting people with true intellectual curiosity and a zest for life. These people are what made me who I am today. Throughout all of high school I felt a loneness that hung so heavily I contemplated suicide multiple times. I had allowed myself to view the world through monochromatic glass so that all I ever saw was singularities.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

    Chipotle Bowl Thesis

I am searching for a campus of brash, tenacious peers who will not set down their sole burrito bowls in defeat, but peers who will eat two, three—as many as humanly possible in the name of Chipotle—and challenge me as well! These are not students who listlessly prod at the same meal every day. Instead, they toss in unthinkable ingredients to create a fresh, unique twist, savoring each tiny bite of their education. Determination, persistence, innovation—these are all values I wish to contribute to UChicago’s student body. To immerse one’s self in intellectual vitality and pursue the “life of the mind” is similar to appreciating Chipotle for its magnanimous beauty…to learn, to enlighten rather than to capitalize is a unique tenet of UChicago that I can find nowhere else.…
