In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. I would first like to thank Frostburg State University for accepting me in their institution and giving me the chance to further my education after my high school scholar years. I have enjoyed my time at Frostburg State University and with hard work I have been able to make the dean’s list and be accepted in the Honors program during the first semester of my freshman year. I hope to continue to work even harder during the second semester and throughout my school career. As a small university, Frostburg has enabled me to benefit from many things, such as the small size classes. Now that I have gotten used to college and life on campus, I believe it is time to continue to push myself to work harder and to attend an institution where I could be academically challenged and can be surrounded by many people who share my profession.…

It wasn’t until I got older, that I finally understood and recognized the struggle that my family went and still continues to go through. My realization began when I was about 11-years old and I noticed that my father not only worked for his own small gardening service, but that he also took my older brothers to work with him. One goal that is greater than my personal aspirations is to have a direct impact on my community so that children can have another person to relate to.…
