In the novel “The Lakota Way”, written by historian, writer, teacher, craftsman, administrator, actor, and public speaker, Joseph M. Marshall III, is a story about the ways of the Lakotas. Within the book, there was twelve core qualities taught, such as; bravery, fortitude, generosity, wisdom, respect, honor, perseverance, love, humility, sacrifice, truth, and compassion. Of these twelve qualities, I feel as though sacrifice, bravery, and wisdom are the uttermost powerful admonitions to learn from this book. From this book the reader learns the way of life and what a vast amount of the Native American people lived by. Consequently, these qualities were an immense part of how the people taught their children and what the children fabricated their lives around.…

With the help of the teachers, and the other volunteers that were working with me, I learned how to be open to others and their opinions in small groups, and how to interact with kid that had serious problems in their life or had not accepted Christ as their personal Savior. By the end of the week, 126 kids gave their lives to Christ. In my group, I helped 5 of those kids know Jesus. I honestly can say that from this experience I feel that I have touched at least one of the kids I supervise. From getting personal with the kids in the small groups to just playing games or walking with them, I have truly connected and made a relationship with them. I worked closely with one of my friends during this program and we both felt that we both learned from the kids as well as the overall group leaders how to grow in faith and talk about our issues with someone we…

Singing and dancing takes place, children laughing and playing with friends; they learn new stories and something new each day of the week. There is glitter, glue, paper, and stickers on the floor. Kids are surrounding you, wanting you to be their new best friend. Some children already know about Jesus and stories from the Bible. Whereas others, do not and their faith is now being planted and is starting to grow. This summer I had the privilege to teach a vacation bible school in Rock Hill, South Carolina. That experience has helped my faith and opened my eyes to other options in my future.…

I have chosen to apply to the Georgetown University School of Medicine for many reasons but most importantly for its Catholic environment along with its focus on health disparities in underserved communities. My career goal is to become a primary care physician and practice medicine in a medically underserved area. My Catholic faith is central to my character and it guides my actions. The catholic principles of humility and charity to others reinforce my reasons for pursuing a career in medicine. I am particularly interested in the Population Health Scholar Tract at Georgetown because of its mission to incorporate public health to clinical practice to alleviate health disparities in the communities. The learning objectives of the program with activities to enhance self-directed learning through public health research will provide critical understanding of medical issues. This strongly mirrors my reasons for pursuing a career as a primary care physician.…

Our group that morning went to Charlie’s Place, where we were supposed to get clothes for the homeless in a back room and talk to them. I enjoyed reading your post. I must agree with you on few things in your post. First, I would like to make note that God has given us many opportunities to evangelized on jobs, neighborhoods, grocery stores, and many other places throughout our lives. It is imperative for us to be in tune with the Holy Spirit and act when God tells us to. We can't never miss the opportunity to do so. We have to continue to keep the mindset that we are walking epistles and many times we may be the only opportunity to present the gospel to a individual. Furthermore, when it come to mission work, sometimes we think that we have to be the ones going to other nations to do so. Going to another nation to present the gospel to people would be totally awesome.…
