On the morning of July 28, 2012, I found myself standing in the middle of Crown Point International Airport holding a plane ticket to Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. My knees were weak and my eyes were so blurred that I couldn’t read the basic information that was on the plane ticket. The only thing I could have recognized was the color of it, which appeared to be a faded green in my eyes. For a short moment my mind was completely blank, then suddenly the thoughts and memories of the time being spent in Canaan, Tobago came rushing into me like ferocious waves of a traumatized ocean. I stood there in the present but my mind was in the past. It went back to that dark night of the 12th of September 1997, the night that I took my first breath …show more content…
Therefore, I try my best not to take my education for granted. My academic interest currently is business management. As a business student at Concordia College Alabama, I am required to take multiple courses in order to earn my business degree. Some of these courses are Mathematics, English, science, Business, History and New Testament. After a year of taking a few of these courses, I Learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses. The subjects I am weaker in currently are United States history and Mathematics. These subjects are not extremely hard, but for some reason I tend to lose focus and interest in these classes. On the other hand, my stronger subjects currently are Biology, English, physical education and World History. These subjects played a big role in helping me choose my career wisely, developing my strengths and assisted me in further understanding my possibilities of becoming successful or not in certain job …show more content…
However, success isn’t easily achieved. Therefore, in everything I do I must try my best. I have always dreamed about graduating college, but my real desire is to graduate college with a GPA of 3.8 or higher. People will often say this is impossible, but I believe that the impossible is possible through hard work and dedication. I believe that I can achieve success as long as I put my mind to it. Sometimes I do get weary, but the one thing that keeps me motivated is an old saying my dad once told me. It states “if you believe you can’t you won’t, if you believe you can you will”. Every time I think about those wise words I say to myself, failure is never an option. My short term goal is to get my AA’S in business management at Concordia College Alabama at the age of 19 and get my aviation and powerplant license by the age of 23 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. My lifetime goal is to travel to most parts of the world including the african continent and europe and start a scholarship fund for international students who are trying to further their education. I want to do so because paying for college is not easy for international students and I want to be able to help as much people as I possibly

Cover Letter Through my essay, I evaluate Lynn O’Shaughnessy’s article titled “8 Reasons Not to Get a Business Degree”. Although she gives eight reasons, some were very similar or relatable, and all were relatively short, so I combined them when making my counterarguments and establishing my position. Many of her statements were backed up with weak, or even falsely represented data, so I used reliable sources with effective statistics and facts to support my counterargument and establish new points. When completing this assignment, I came across a few constraints that made my research slightly more difficult.…
