My nursing practice still holds true to the main reason that I chose to become a nurse, which was because I have an overwhelming love and compassion for helping others in their time of need. It warms my heart to know that I made a difference in someone else’s life by just sitting down and allowing them to talk without interruption. Making patients feel better by giving them a bath with dignity and privacy, or getting them fresh ice water are just little things and may not matter to one person but may be everything to another. According to (Crosta, 2015), Nurses strive to achieve the best possible quality of life for their patients, regardless of disease or disability.

When writing my goals in Transition to Professional Nursing, my two years goals were to finish my RN-BSN. I stuck to my goal it has been a year and half and I am finally at the end of the goal that I set. I have continued learning new skills. I love my job, the people I work with and the patients that I am taking care of.
Within the next 2 years, I will be advancing professionally and going to graduate school for my MSN. I would like to study leadership and management. Within the next five years, I will still continue to advance professionally and begin work on my Nurse Practitioner (NP). There are four areas that interest me and I have not made up my mind as to what I would like to do yet. Women’s health, Palliative (Hospice), Public Health or Family health. I will just see where God takes me.…
