Why I Establish My Goals For Myself

Setting different goals for myself isn’t a new concept for me. I have been doing this ever since my second year of wrestling, in the ninth grade. My wrestling coach gave us an assignment to make different goals that we wanted to accomplish through our wrestling carriers so I did, making my number one goal, “An undefeated season.” I worked so hard from there on out to accomplish my goal and my senior year I had the satisfaction of completing this goal. Unfortunately I did not apply this to school, until the Summer Transitional Program. Through the program and the year I am excited to feel that same feeling of accomplishment and excitement after fulfilling each academic and social goal that I set for my self. I have a diverse group of friends and am very exposed to different cultures. I love all the different experiences form each different culture, which developed my goal of making a large, diverse, and beneficial group of friends throughout my college experience. My goal is specific: I will make many different friends form many different cultures and benefit/learn from different experiences that they have to offer. My goal is measurable: I will measure my progress by learning about different cultures and different customs making myself educated about different people. My goal is actionable: I will join clubs and organizations on campus and meet as many people as I can to befriend. My goal is realistic: I already have a diverse group of friends that I really enjoy and I would like to experience the same things on a college campus. My goal also has a timeframe: Throughout my college experience I will meet more and more fiends, most likely making most of them by the end of freshman year. The recourses I will use are on-campus organizations and clubs, cultural events, and social events. I will hold myself accountable of achieving this goal by urging myself to have the true college experience and use that as a tool to be out going and have an open
