I think I am like that because I care so much about them, and they are just so great to interact with. I can always count on kids to put me in a better mood or get my mind off things because they always have something to talk about and always have so much energy. For that reason, I adore being around kids and want the best for them. I have had wonderful teachers, and I have also had terrible teachers in my time. I want to be that teacher that will go above and beyond by making sure every student is learning and enjoying it. I am still at the same job that I started with when I began college, which is at the YWCA. It is an afterschool program that children go to until their parents or guardians come pick them up. I now realize how stressful and hard the job can be, but it is for a good reason. It made me get a better feel of what it is like to teach and how everything may not go as planned because sometimes technology fails. After my experience, I know that I am headed in the right direction. I want to be an elementary teacher because I want to be the one that puts that smile on the child’s face when they get something right or understands it. Not only will they be getting rewarded, but I will be getting rewarded as well because I will feel very

When I was 20 years old, I got a job at an after-school program for children ages 5 to 11 years old. It was an educational based after-school program, facilitating enrichment activities and tutoring for the children. This was my first “real job”, and I was over the moon excited about it. What really got me excited about the job, besides the fact that it paid relatively well, I was working in a team setting; I was working with other adults, and we were all working towards the same goal, to provide a safe, educationally fun environment for children to go after school. Also, at the time, I had thoughts about possibly going in to the teaching profession (I didn’t really know what I wanted to do professionally at this time, but I thought I would…
