I thought that they would not help pay for my college if I went anywhere else. It was not until I was in high school that I realized that Texas A&M was the only university I wanted to attend. I would like to study at Texas A&M to continue my family tradition, for the opportunities it offers after graduation and to be admitted to the dental school with a great education behind me.…

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

Then I plan to become a teacher and help shape the minds of students who are less fortunate and to give them a life to believe in. Through education and life lessons I hope they can achieve their dreams by believing in themselves. I believe that my leadership abilities, courage, kindness, and nurturing would impact my ability to fulfill my dreams. When I turned eleven, rheumatoid arthritis wreaked havoc on my hands, with medications that did the same to my liver. It arched my fingers backwards and killed my ability to play piano as I had done for six years prior. In only a few months, it took away my predominant method of musical expression, the pain and deformity forcing me to quit practicing altogether. Initially upset, I reached for the nearest option to continue my engagement in music: choir. I had been a part of the school’s chorus since third grade, but with the loss of my piano playing, I needed to renew my dedication to singing.…

Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals. During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines. Fascinating as it sounds, I was always intrigued to understand why fruits and vegetables spoil or often cause food poising in humans. Although, when I questioned my mother why these fruits spoil, she responded it was due to "little bugs," which was not a sufficient response.…

Brainstorming for this project was difficult because I thought there would be no way that a poster could summarize my life. But, as I was putting the poster together, I realized it wasn’t very hard to condense me as a person to a sheet of paper with objects on it. I chose objects that have to do with things i’m involved in or that represent who I am.…
