There are numerous difficulties that I will face as I work toward my goal of earning my degree in nursing. I am a mother of a little boy with special needs. My son has Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome and he’s sick frequently. When my son gets sick, he usually has seizures, so unless someone is CPR certified, I don’t let anyone watch him. That being said, child care for my son will be one of the biggest complications I will face. With that being said, I will miss a lot of classes and it will be a set-back. Finances may also be a problem I face toward earning my degree. In accumulation to the restraining order, he doesn’t pay court-ordered child support, so that only increases the court dates! If my son’s father would just comply with the court’s orders and be a decent father, this wouldn’t be a problem that influences my education. Court dates are not the only thing that prevents me from making it to school. Like indicated previously, I am the mother of a sick child, there will always be unexpected hospital visits and no one to care for my child while I’m attending classes. I try to always stay a little bit ahead on my homework and studying, just in case the unexpected situations arise. I have a car payment and phone payment to pay once-a-month and I struggle with that, both of those bills are currently late. The costs of gasoline, tuition, and textbooks certainly influences my financial situation; and not in a respectable way! My son is three years old, and unless you have a small child, you will, under no circumstances, understand how much a child will cost on a day-to-day basis. From diapers to a toy he requests at the grocery store. My son’s father does not pay child support so I’m responsible for this all on my own. Until I get out of college, I will struggle with my financial situation. Picking up hours at work will not work for me since I can only work on the days I have someone to care for my child, which is not often. My biggest funding support, recently, was financial aid. Financial aid rewarded for my tuition, books, college fees, and they’re mailing me a check for $1,800, that is the only way my bills are being paid this month. I try not to eat out as frequently or spend money on things I do not need, to prevent my financial difficulties from getting any
