What Are My Goals In College Essay

What is a goal? To me, a goal is something that a person sets for themselves to work towards in order to improve their skills, knowledge, or well-being. Every single day, I set goals for myself; some goals are relatively effortless to achieve, while others are deeply challenging. Recently I was asked to challenge myself for a period of thirty days. To start, I had to decide what my challenge would be and what I needed to do in order to be successful in my challenge (SC15). The challenge I decided to embark on was to eat healthier and exercise more. In order to keep myself true to my challenge, I set stipulations for myself to follow that included diet restriction and exercise requirements. I pushed the limits of my comfort zone with my eating routine; as I am a person of habit, changing my diet plan completely threw me off guard. Also, exercising in front of people is not something that I was comfortable doing. I put my discomfort aside and joined an exercise class to help me stay on track with my PTL challenge; this was much more difficult for me than I anticipated because people outside of the class would frequently look in and watch what we were doing. Finding myself constantly looking to see if others were watching me, I realized that I should not be concerned with what others think of me. I was exercising for myself and no one else. With that realization, I feel that I grew as an individual, and now, when I attend exercise class, I give it my all without so much as glancing up to see if bystanders are watching me. In addition, I learned what some of the benefits of being conscious of what I am putting into my body are. Changing minimal things about one’s diet can have a tremendous impact on their physical health as well as their mental health, which is something I never would have said before starting my PTL challenge.
