She wanted me to follow her footsteps. Therefore, I was going to be a nurse. I was taking prerequisites to nursing courses as I got a new job at a daycare helping teach preschool. I loved my job! I loved seeing those sweet little faces every day. I loved when they learned how to use scissors or write their name. I battled for a long time whether I should stick with nursing or start all over. I prayed, cried, and prayed some more. I was going to be done with nursing in two years and make more money. Teaching was going to take four years and I was going to make less money. So, what did I do? I switched my major a week before school started to education. I knew that is what God had intended for me to do. That one job is why I chose education and what makes me the person I am today. It also started in Kindergarten. I had the most caring, trustworthy, passionate teacher. She reminded me of Ms. Honey from Matilda. I still remember her laugh and what she smelled like. When I was younger I always played “school.” I pretended to be just like my Kindergarten teacher. I wanted to be just like her and I still do. She always told me to shoot for nothing but the best. After that year I moved schools. I didn’t think I’d ever see her
