My Generation In The US

Improved Essays
Well, we have been gifted with many things especially in the United states.

My generation is very privileged as well as all after mine. Earlier human generations were not so privileged, because they had to figure out everything by themselves. But as time went by, knowledge has been transferred from parents to children, and this education has brought us prosperity, success, improved technology and with that, better and more comfortable living.

We have been gifted with advances in technology that make our lives easier, such as smartphones, laptops, computers, cars, and airplanes. For example, my great grandmother didn’t go to school. She lived in a farm isolated from society and she had to work hard to make a living. There were

She was not afforded the privileges of the average American to have a career rather than a job. Attending a school in a poor community gave her little room to create a “successful” career by the U.S standards. Both of my grandparents still work despite being over 70 years old. The community where both of my grandparents attended was Hancock County. This became the community where I spent most of my time, since my church was located there.…

America’s Greatest Gift to My Generation My generation has many advantages over previous generations such as technology, freedom, safety, and education. Education is an important gift because it opens up doors to career opportunities and diverse lifestyles. The first person in my family to graduate college was my older sister, also my great aunt didn’t even finish her high school career. Education is the most important gift to my generation because of increasing opportunities and ability to go to college.…

Tech Essay As seen on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, well known comedian Louis CK refers to the way technology has taken over life as people once knew it. The United States has access to some of the greatest inventions and ideas in the world, but unfortunately it is all taken for granted. Becoming The Dragon

Review of Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapien While this book was at times very engaging and well written, I cannot even say there were any grammatical errors that I came across, I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars. Becoming the Dragon is a story about a young man Andy, and his journey through a portal to another world that has the typical fantasy cast (i.e. elves, gnomes, and of course dragons), and how he is put in several situations that lead to him becoming a dragon. This book feels like it could honestly have been 3 books had someone else written it, but instead it is one book that even after reading it feels like there was no real plot. The book starts out in our world, and you get a small glimpse into Andy's home life.…

America’s Gift To My Generation America’s gift to my generation is technology. In past generations, they did not have the technology like we have today. They didn’t have t.v.’s, and flushable bathrooms, washing machines, and dryers like we do today. The things people didn’t have back then didn’t stop them. Our lives in this country are not like others because we have the technology.…

One piece of technology I have found that impacts my life this week is the car. I believe people take the things we have for granted, you just jump in your car put a little gas in it and drive wherever you need to go. I realize that probably was not the case in the younger years of America. The car has impacted my life because I live in York and getting to tech is a thirty minute drive for me every day. If I had to walk I would never get here on time or have to get up very early just to make the journey, and in this cold weather that is upon us at the time it would be a very cold walk as well.…

The world I live in is filled with many technological advances. I am grateful and take advantage of many of these technologies. I flew nineteen hundred miles in a airliner from California to Missouri in under 6 hours. The vehicles we ride in are controlled by onboard computers. We take for granted the everday use of modern technologies in the form of smart phones, I pads, laptops, computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, television, radios, I-Watches, and other similar type devices.…

    Baby Boomer Generation

A lack of job opportunities could also be due to the cultural shift of the large cohort born between 1946 and 1964, also known as ‘baby boomers’ who are working longer than previous generations. This is backed up by Mermin, Johnson and Murphy (2007), who concluded that “the mean self-reported probability of working full time past age 65 among workers aged 51 to 56 increased from 27% to 33%” (p. 293). Although job insecurity can be detrimental to one’s mental and emotional health, longer careers for the baby boomer generation has many positive factors including those on a macro level such as increasing government revenue, and promoting economic growth. On a micro level, it can potentially improve financial security at older ages considering…

Throughout time, technology has become a key component in our daily life. Technology, defined as the use of science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems (Merriam-Webster Online, 2016), surrounds our every movement throughout the day. For example, people use electricity to light their home as they get ready for the day, they drive their cars to work, and brew themselves a cup of coffee with a coffee maker. Although these are all common, routine tasks people perform every day, there was in fact a time when none of these devices existed. Technology has created millions of jobs and simplified our lives.…

For example, my grandfather had diabetes his whole life, making it hard for him to go to work and provide for his family. When my father was young, he would have to put in numerous hours of work to be able to help pay for his father’s medical bills and to support his family. As he got older, his father’s kidney began to fail and he needed a donor. My grandmother was a match, so for the duration of the transplant and sometime after, my father had to care for both his parents. Upon graduating high school my father moved away from home and got his college degree, all the while working and saving up money to send to his parents.…

If we take a step back and look at the world around us, we can’t help but wonder how we got here. With a world consumed on progress and moving towards the future, it is incredibly important to look back to the past as well. History allows us to not just learn from past mistakes, but through its understanding, better understand the world around us today. There have been countless events in history that have subtly or greatly changed the world around us and the least we can do is take the time to try to understand their importance. Three events in history that had an enormous impact in shaping this world are the Renaissance, the invasion of Poland by Germany, and the Industrial Revolution.…

There has been a lot of chatter in the media today about the minimum wage being raised and quite frankly it is a disgrace to America. This generation doesn 't know what hard work is. They would prefer to just be given handouts! Back in my day you started at two dollars an hour and after working there a few months you would be the manager of the store and be earning three dollars an hour; which back then was enough to feed a family of four and live the life of a king! So my question for this “progressive” generation, or should I say “communist” generation; as my good pal Donald Trump always says… If I could do it why can 't you?…
