A system to track student data would help me get a better picture of what the data is saying. A rubric to review while reading free responses would allow me to gauge their understanding. However, from the lesson I created in the theory of evolution unit, my students were overall successful. I tailored most of the formative assessment to be easily analyzed by using multiple choice, true false statements or yes and no questions. I was surprised at how many students were under the various misconceptions asked from the pre-assessment. That, of itself, helped me construct a platform to pose questions and clarify ideas during small groups or whole class discussions. The objectives for the unit were achieved. Student proved to be proficient in their understanding of the theory of evolution. 97% of the class passed the summative assessment for the unit.
This field experience increased my desire to promote social change in my classroom. In many societies, teachers are looked as natural leaders who bring out positive change in the lives of others (ILO, 2015). I want my students to begin to question their surroundings and thoughts as
