My Future Teacher

Education plays a huge role in the development of a person and his or her success in life. When teaching a child, it is important to consider his or her vantage point and needs. Children have a unique mind, and it is our job as teachers to bring out their best and help them to reach their full potential. A classroom should be a place where students are able to feel comfortable and be themselves, almost like another world where they can escape. The environment of the classroom should be a safe and uplifting atmosphere. The role of a teacher is to correct and imply certain things when needed, but the child’s investment in learning should be the focus with the teacher helping him or her to discover who he or she is through academics. Throughout life, there will be many obstacles to overcome, and having an education to fall back on will help ensure success. Having an education can allow stability and balance, bringing a more self-dependent life. Dr. Seuss once quoted, “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” Growing up, I would read his children’s books that were very inspiring and inspirational to me. If students do not feel like they have a good relationship with the teacher, they are not going to listen or want to learn. Communicating with my students, getting to know about their lives, and sharing stories with them about mine can foster a strong, positive relationship between my students and me. I will make sure to keep them on their toes so that they will want to learn and not become bored.
