Improved Essays
As my time at Holmes Bible College is in its twilight, I am faced with the realization that I have to make plans for my future and still be in the will of God. I have to decide how I will proceed to the path God has for me. I can honestly say at this point I have no idea. It is the intention of this paper to share my life up to this point, my basic future goals, the philosophy that will lead me there, my personal calling, the intention for my life, and how Holmes has prepared me. Let this paper be my finale as a student at Holmes Bible College.
To start I would like to list three basic facts. I plan to pursue some sort of higher education. I desire teaching and church planting within the context of world missions. I will follow this path under

How can such a finite being such as myself even hope to claim such? I can attest, at least in part, to the definite call that God has for my life because of His Spirit, will, and personal experience. My life was changed by these three things when I came to Holmes. Long story short, I went to Honduras in September 2011 for my first mission trip. This changed my life and sealed the call of missions. I came back, got married a year later, and after many personal and spiritual struggles wound up on the northern side of Dixie at a Bible college I knew almost nothing about. Through this Abraham like leap of faith, I have known what living by faith is. I have known what suffering for the cause of Christ is. I have known what it is like to be fed by ravens and I have known what true blessings are. Jesus once said, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life”. I have come to know just how true that verse really is and I count it the joy of my life. For in the last three years I have realized a true change in my life. (Mat. …show more content…
My dad told me I had a job starting the next week. That week I began my love-hate relationship with being a carpenter. I have stories to write on for life, but in respect of this paper, I will keep it simple. I worked with Blackmon Construction for four years. Those were four of the most testing and demanding years of my life. My boss was a man named Lynn Blackmon. He was a very rough and difficult man. He was hurt by a liar disguised as a man of God that caused him to have a bad view of Christians. Lynn loved me even though we could fight like cats and dogs. He was a slave driver the likes of which few men my age could endure. He was in his seventies then and he carried a work ethic from ages past. Back then I was a newly saved man and I struggled, but Lynn taught me what work is and that has come to guide my

I have always been independent, but I fully seeked independence when I was 16 years old. This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. The first step to my seeking of independence was turning 16 years old and getting my driver’s license. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

My personal narrative essay is about my transfer from Bible Baptist to Savannah Christian and my feelings towards the process of transferring and the first day at Savannah Christian. Overall the transfer was better than I presumed it would be because I sustained a better education than I did at Bible Baptist. The transfer taught me that sometimes change is for the greater good. If I had the ability to go back in time and tell my future self-something about this situation it would be not to be nervous just breathe. Finding out I was going to a new school could be compared to when I found out my first fish had died, heartbreaking.…

My dad is one of the hardest working people I know. He would always stay late at work and do more work than he should. He always does the baseball leagues job of taking care of the baseball field’s condition by mowing the grass, watering the dirt and dragging the Turface. My dad would pick me up from school and take me to work with him whether it was to his actual job at the movie theatre or at his second job which was taking care of the baseball fields. I always enjoyed working with him because that meant I got to spend time with him.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Jim Martin is trying to make in his article, “Be Who You Is.” He begins by saying that we cannot all have the same vocation, and in order to find our own we need to focus on our teleological identities; what we want for ourselves in the long run. Fr. Martin indicates that a major misconception amongst those struggling to find their vocation is that they are attached to the well known stories of others like Mother Theresa and Thomas Merton. The point Fr.…

A key question that should be answered is, “What is the goal of the spiritual development plan?” In order to develop a healthy plan, the person’s motive must be pure. The goal should not to be a better person or for any self-piety; rather, it should be done to seek God alone. Robert Mulholland, Jr. states that spiritual formation is “the process of growth from a false identity as a pervasively self-referenced being to the true identity of a pervasively God-referenced being” (p. 221).…

Anytime you are attempting to influence the thinking, actions, or behavior of another, you are engaging in leadership (Blanchard & Hodges, 2003).
