My Future Career Goals

Decent Essays
The life paths that I have taken led me to where I am today, and that is right off South Michigan Ave. My prior educational career motivated me to get a higher education. Set aside my desire to have a higher education, my family was also an immense part of me attending Roosevelt University. The process of finding the right university was a long journey, however, it is only part of the beginning to complete my future career goals.
Before I actually commenced elementary school, I had someone in my life who was very influential to my education. Well just like the majority of people I’ve got some sort of life plan/goals. Of course to achieve these goals I’ve got a some traits that are needed up my sleeve. I plan on getting my Bachelors Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and a minor in Psychology.I know in my dream world, I would love to study abroad my sophomore year and get an amazing internship that will help me in my future. However, being more realistic, I know that there’s that chance that I might not study abroad because my family is tight on money. Also, who knows if I’ll get my “dream internship” , the chances are I might be stuck doing the most tedious work ever. Furthermore, I trust that whatever happens, happens for a reason. If I were to fail in any shape or form I would try again and again until I am doing something that I love or something that will get me by in life. To get through school and to my goals I am lucky to be a very organized person, self-motivated, and having the best support system I could ask for. But at the same time, I also lack time management skills and I get stressed out very easily. I plan to overcome my lack of time management by getting in the habit of doing things earlier than planned and trying to stop procrastinating. As for my stress, I have started doing yoga and I have found that it has been helping me. Doing yoga is something that I plan to do and possibly even talking to someone about my issues with stress. Time management is always something that I’ve had trouble with; I either save all of the tasks I have to get done until the very last minute, or I work on too many tasks at once, which pushes the time I take to complete everything back even farther. Even though I have gotten to where I am now with these less-than-average time management skills, these skills will not fly once I am out of college and flung into the working world. Whether I am working under an independent company or attempting to start my own business, nothing important will get done when needed, and I will just be creating more and more stress for myself. And, given that I have had struggles with anxiety, this is not a great picture that I am painting. So, time management is an important thing for me to better myself…

Keeping my three personal and professional goals realistic, I would have to say a personal goal is to finish school at SNHU with a 3.0 GPA or above. I think a way for me to accomplish this goal is to stay focused on the tasks at hand, maintain a good relationship with my advisors and to utilize some of the tutoring options that are available to me as a student. Another personal goal is to work on myself, mentally. I cannot be a good mom or wife when I have the stress, anxiety and depression that I do. A way to help accomplish this goal is to not only start speaking with a psychiatrist (first appointment is August 4th) but to also have my thyroid checked.…

During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines.
