Please accept this letter and the accompanying vita as my formal application for the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs position at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA). The announcement of this search on Higher Ed Jobs drew my attention because I have followed the exciting growth of A&M-SA, and I believe my background and experience are an excellent fit with the credentials you seek. I have an ardent interest in advancing the mission of empowering “students through innovative and challenging academic and co-curricular programs that contribute to and enrich the economic and social development of the community and region” that drives A&M-SA, and I can make a positive contribution in support of this mission. You will find a curriculum vita included for your consideration, but I would like to highlight some of my experiences that make me uniquely qualified for this position.

I earned my Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in Instructional and Political Communication. At Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA), I serve as the Director of the Office of Student Learning and Institutional Assessment and am a tenured Full Professor. I have an established record of excellence in teaching, research, and service. At Lamar University I received the highest teaching award given to junior faculty and teaching bonus awards each year I was eligible. In 2004, I was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award by my college at SFA.…
