My First Writing Project

Decent Essays
After reading my first writing project I noticed two things, first I could improve some sentences and go more into detail with some topics. I could fix some sentences to have the essay flow better for anyone reading it. I felt as if I jump from one sentence to another and left out some details that would be helpful to the reader. At the points where I highlighted some confusion, I will go back and fix them. I didn't hear any serious errors that needed to be fixed, but found spots where the paper could be improved.

My essays have improve over the semester, because now I know what mistakes I should be aware of committing. Also because I was able too look back in my whole process and argumentative essay and noticed the insufficient amount of detail and support I was providing. As a writer I feel that I need to focus in writing strong thesis statements that are going to capture the readers attention. I also need to pay more attention when it comes to developing an essay because I tend to leave out important information that’s going to make my essay…

Things that I’ve improved on over the last few years are my spelling, sentences, and just going into more detail. These are all the ideas that I think I’ve improved the most throughout my high school career. The most important aspect of my writing I think I’ve changed for the better is my spelling. In 9th grade my spelling was probably the worst part of my writing.…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

There is always some aspect of your writing that can be improved. That is why the point that I am focusing on extremely hard is using sensory detail to be thorough in my writing. Sensory detail is the way to project your ideas from your mind onto the paper. That is why it is important for me to build my writing skills to become more adept at translating my mind onto the paper, because the words that I put on paper act as a bridge into a fathomless world that is full of unopened chests that each have a special characteristic. Inside those chests lies the insight that is learned through both beneficial and malign experiences.…

I have noticed in my different essays while examining them that I would often excel in one part of the essay, while still failing to repair other flaws. In my Modernism essay, I incorporated evidence well, but I did not add smooth transitions, making the writing seem choppy. In my synthesis essay, I made sure to polish my transitions and include plenty of evidence to support my claims, yet the essay was focused too much on the evidence and not enough on the arguments themselves and the meaning of the evidence. Nevertheless, I fixed nearly every mistake there was in my last essay, an analysis of The Visit. I used strong diction that contributed to both imagery and my defeated tone.…

The completion of three rough drafts and three final drafts, along with the help and constructive criticism of my instructors, are what helped me find my weakness in writing essays. The solution to my weakness is to learn to create complete, specific, and fully developed thesis statements. One can only achieve this through the continual practice of writing essays and executing each skill one at a time. My room for improvement is infinite. I will not stop trying to better myself until I have reached my full potential of writing a near perfect essay with a correctly formulated thesis…

As of 2018 my writing skills have increased and the types of writing I like have become more clear. However, of course as an 8th grader I have a lot to work on when it comes to writing, chances are you have already found a few mistakes in this paragraph. When it comes to what kinds of writing I have come to like, I have to groups, the writing I like to read and the writing that I find fun to write. In the ”fun to write” category I would place argumentative, and my favorite type of writing to read is narrative. Mistakes cannot always be seen as a negative, as you can move on and correct them to better your knowledge. From my first essay this semester to my last I have seen a vigorous amount of improvement. Not only seen in my grades, but in the way my writing has transitioned between paragraphs and topics. This has helped my work flow more and added a keen sense of intelligence. I have seen much improvement in my essays but have seen the most significant change from my first entrance essay “My season”, to my major events essay “Wayward Feelings”, to my final argumentative essay “A Helpful Hand”.…
