My first work experience was as a CNA at a nursing home. I have seen patients at their worst. I thought if I knew more about what was going on with them, I could help more. So I started working towards goals for my healthcare career.
I worked full-time and went to college part-time. I don’t know if you would call it luck but I was laid off work and I would receive unemployment. I decided to take advantage of it and go to college full-time. I could concentrate on my degree, and make good grades. I had worked at this hospital for 5 years when I heard of physician assistant work, I always wanted to be a doctor but my time to be accepted had passed, I heard after a certain age you would not be considered. I asked physician assistants about their work and what they do. I have seen them in different settings of work, for example: clinic work, doctor’s offices and hospitals. I thought to myself I want to do that, I want to be a physician assistant.
