Personal Narrative Essay: My First True Friend

Improved Essays
I was born in the state of Tennessee, but when I was six years old, I moved to a house that was less than twenty miles from the coast of Alabama. Even though the neighborhood I moved into was not large, I was blessed with the privilege of living across the street from the person who has impacted me in a number of ways. This person became my first true friend. Although it has been nearly 11 years since I met her, I remember it like it was yesterday. We met on Halloween in the year 2004 while my twin sister Jessica and I were out trick-or-treating. We were almost ready to wrap it up for the night, but we decided to make a final stop at the house across the street. When we got there, however, my friend’s mother answered the door and first apologized …show more content…
We had the same hair color, and we were all about the same height. The only noticeable difference between us as far as appearance goes were that Bay’s eyes were brown, and mine were blue. We looked so identical that some people nicknamed us “The Triplets.” Living across the street from each other made it highly convenient for us to spend time with each other almost on a daily basis, and that is exactly what we did. Every school morning, we always played together while we waited for the bus to pick us up. As soon as school ended for the day, we went home to complete any homework assigned to us, and once we finished that, we went over to each other’s house. Often enough, if it was a Friday, we would have sleepovers and stay up well into the night, if not all night, playing …show more content…
For the past three consecutive years or so, in response to my request, my family has journeyed down to Gulf Shores for fall break not only for a family vacation, but to visit the friend that I left behind. The reason why I say that I would not make it to where we stayed down there is because when we are together, even for a short amount of time, it was like we were never apart. This leads me back to a phrase that the three of us would always shout back and forth to each other each night, while going home, and that phrase was “Bay, Abby, and Jessie, best friends forever!” That phrase has held true to its meaning up until this day, and that is a message that I am trying to get across here, and that message is that true friendship will never cease no matter what direction we go in. That is something that I have gotten out of meeting

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Because of this, I typically felt like I was a failure as a man.…

Moving into a new town, new school, and new house - which was anything but easy for a sixth grader - we desperately wanted to fit in and settle in. My sister and I wanted ourselves known to everyone. Completing the first week in our new house, we went out to a walk to the park where we could see the neighborhood kids hanging out. Of course as sixth graders we were very reckless in observing people. Without anything in mind we walked up to a girl our age and introduced ourselves, the girl introduced her as Marissa and we soon fired up a conversation.…

Sunlight poured in as Lacher sat at his desk, a book resting in his hands. His eyes traced the words on the page, focusing intently on what he was reading. He pushed his glasses up with his index finger, sighing as he heard a knock at the door. He rose from his chair and made his way around the office he set up in Helputt's old castle. He reached for the door before pausing, taking a moment to brush off his suit pants before turning the knob.…

My family were looking for something we could do in Downtown Sacramento last September 2nd, this year. I searched on Google about events that will happen that Saturday, and I found out about a 3-day SacAnime event at the Sacramento Convention Center. My sixteen-year-old son loves anime shows, so he was ecstatic when I told him about the event, and so did I, as I’ve never been to an event like that. So off we went to the convention. While we were walking toward the convention, we saw hundreds of people everywhere dressed up in costumes with their favorite characters from different shows, series, movies, cartoons and so on.…

It started with a dead cat, and it ended with a dead cat. Well, it technically ended with therapy, but you get the picture. Flashback to ninth grade: a friend of my mother called us up to tell her one of the stray neighborhood cats had died, leaving behind a litter of day old kittens. She said she didn't have the time or resources to care for them, and asked if my mom could take them off her hands until they became old enough to give to the SPCA. My mother, with her wretched bleeding heart, obliged more than willingly, and we found ourselves with a litter of newborn kittens for at least the third time.…
