My First Test

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you switched schools? What if you ought to take two tests to do so? Dear Executive Board of Alpha Kappa Psi, Max Foster has recently contacted me about my discharge in the pledge class of the fall of 2015. I understand the policy for a failed quiz. I am requesting the permission to look at quiz 1 from October 7 chapter meeting. From my stand point, at least to say, I learned all the the information in both quizzes by heart because it means much more than just a plain text to me. The previous night, I spent hours studying for both quizzes with my fellow pledge brothers who are willing to vouch for me.…

“Please, Mr. Henderson.” Melissa tugged her shawl tighter around her shoulders despite the glow of coals from the stove inside the small brick office. Half past nine o’clock and the sun had yet to break through the morning clouds. With rain threatening, along with its tendency to turn the roads into quagmires deep enough to swallow a horse or two, she needed to persuade the banker soon.…

Wyoming, Illinois is a representation of a small farming community. It sits among acres of old, history filled corn, wheat and bean fields about thirty minutes from the “big” city. My first childhood home sat on a corner. The old home used to belong to my great grandparents, but was currently occupied by my mom, sister and two cats. I looked over to my mom, “Can I go to the grocery store?”…

Parting is such sweet sorrow. Over the past 17 years, I’ve found myself saying goodbye to a myriad of both people and places. Of course, the vast majority of the locations and faces I’ve encountered bear no deep significance to me today and are forgotten. However, there are certain places that are able to trigger an inundation of memories for me. One such place in my life has been Heather Hills Elementary School.…

Based on my own personal experiences as a 21-year-old Hispanic female who is also a senior in college, being knowledgeable or capable of something has never been, nor will ever be determined by how well or poorly I perform on a test. However, there are many students, some barely starting their schooling, and some who graduate from college in less than four months, who would disagree with me. These students might believe that a high stakes test will define their worth and value to society. The Consortium for Research on Educational Accountability and Teacher Evaluation (2012-2015) believes that student success should not be based on the results of a single test, but instead should include valuable and relevant information. I agree with CREATE…
