I had my first surgery ever during the summer of 2015. I was sitting at home in my cozy living room and a sense of pain would come across my throat as well as my ears feeling full with water. I asked my mom to look in my throat because every time I swallowed, it felt like a piece of sand paper was scrapping my throat. I remember her saying we should go to the doctor bright and early in the morning because there were white, clammy spots deep in the back of my throat that should not be there. The worst was yet to come.
The next morning came around and my mom took me to the hospital. When we got there, we off course had to check in at the front desk. After that we sat in the clinic waiting room watching kids play with monster trucks and blocks for what seemed to be forever. Finally the nurse announced my name and I could go to the back room, she asked for symptoms that have been unusual. We had to do so many tests, including the one where they poke a stick in the back of your throat, which was the worst part of the whole process because you taste a bitter, salty piece of wood after words. The nurse then left the room with the swab that she swiped across my throat. We sat there in silence until she came back, and the worse was expected, I tested positive for strep throat.
After having to stay home an extra day from school, due to having to wait a full 24 hours for the antibiotic to kick in. All I did was loop around the house watch movies and read books. I was looking forward…
