Bill Gates had the dream of developing Microsoft and developing computer programmes from the age of 13. He dropped out of Harvard after developing a version of the programming language to dedicate his full time to Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen. Despite the criticism and knock backs that he had along the way he never lost sight of the reason why he was doing what he loved. I feel that it is a really important aspect to become a good leader and manager. I find myself often wanting to give up on my dreams due to push backs and lack of confidence preventing me from reaching my full potential. The second lesson that I have learnt from this article is to have confidence not only in yourself but also in your ability to be able to manage a large company. Within the article it talks about Bill Gates having the confidence in himself, the product and having the confidence in order to be able to lead his co-workers in the development of Microsoft. Furthermore the article discusses how Bill Gates was great at being able to convince people how much of a success Microsoft would be. Through reading the article I have learnt several key leadership styles from Bill Gates that I feel will benefit this. I feel I can particularly relate to Gates passion to follow and succeed in his dream without letting obstacles stand in his way. Furthermore Gates has taught me that it is not just about succeeding in your dream but the journey you take to get there and what you do once you’ve reached that goal. His characteristics of hard work, determination and motivation will help me in teaching as all successful teachers are only successful due to the amount of hard work and effort they have put into their job. Even more so in teaching I will be faced with many tough decisions to make that not everyone may agree
