When I accomplished the first screen, I was proud of myself and then they shattered my dream by tell me there was two other screens lunch and dinner. I have realized that I don’t work good under pressure. I have had people lined up passed the door with very little help. That is when teamwork comes into play; everyone tries to pitch in to get the job done. Sometime to a customer they may think that, we have it all done and ready to go but the customer have to realize that the food it made freshly. Sometime the customer get furious at us but I still stand there and be polite, deep down it is hard to take. The next step of my training, I moved to the kitchen. I was in charge of the dirty dish duty and learning to use the dish cleaning equipment. Let me say it is a nasty job when you have a phobia of toughing other people’s food plates. In the kitchen, you also learn to prepare all types of meal of the day. From breakfast to dinners, once you have learned that you have complete your training. Through this experience, I have learned that this was not my ideal job but you have to start somewhere. I have accomplished so much for someone who had never had a job. The first job someone has is often memorable in many ways, they are earning their own money, accepting a new form of responsibility, and they’re usually treated horribly because their position is seen as inferior. In today’s world, people who work jobs that don’t require a degree are looked down upon. It is often ignored that the resources that are needed to obtain the education that is required for a white collar job, are not available to everyone. A certain intelligence that comes of blue collar workers and what they must deal with is also dismissed. There is no shame in being a blue collar worker, it requires a completely different skill set that cannot be taught.…

I am an attendant at Chick-fil-a, I don’t think I have any specific title because I am pretty much doing everything, whether it is working with the cash registers or working in the kitchen. My first position though I was working in the kitchen, however after considering it was a high pace restaurant, the first two weeks in the back I felt like it was too much pressure. So I asked to work in the front area of the restaurant, and it was so much less pressure and it became easier to adapt to the environment of Chick-fil-a. After a few months of working at the restaurant I ended up having appendicitis and a bacterial infection, so I was out for a couple months. After having that experience and learned that it was God that saved my life, and reflecting…

My first job was one that I had foolishly not considered an 'actual job' until the first day of training, and then another, more prominent realization the first couple days as I started. I applied to work in a position called a Camphand at the summer camp I had been going to for a few years, Camp Chrysalis. Fresh out of my junior year of high school, this was an exciting new opportunity for my peers and I to start working at camp after being a camper in an age appropriate setting. In my head, things had reversed for the better in comparison to the past. Instead of having to pay to go to camp, I was now getting paid to be at camp!…

A few weeks ago, I found myself on the second floor of the North end of the Unity Health Hospital, dressed in the nicest button-up shirt and dress pants I own, shaking so hard that my folder, which held my resume, cover letter, two pens, notebook paper and a cheesy motivational quote stuck to the inside cover, nearly fell out of my hands. My first job interview was an experience that I will never forget. My anxiety reached the point of exacerbation during the fifteen minutes that I spent in the empty lobby. I had intentionally arrived fifteen minutes earlier than my appointed time and was only accompanied by my own thoughts, which were fraught with worry. Had I arrived too early?…
