The first item on my time ball is the yellow piece of paper that says first steps. This item represents the time at which I was born and then leading up to when I first began to walk. I was born on April, 1st 1997 on a Saturday afternoon in Waconia, Minnesota. I weighed exactly 7 pounds and I was 22 inches long. Therefore, 6 months after I was born I began to crawl and shortly after that around 10 months old I started to take my first steps. During this age I was developing my gross motor skills. My gross motor skills also developed more throughout this stage of life because I was starting to get into things such as cabinets and then sometimes I would even crawl into my closet. My mother explained to me that I was always a very adventurous baby. The second item that is represented on my time ball is the orange paper that has the word “Dad” on it. This item has great significance to me because that was the first word that I had spoken when I was 12 months old. …show more content…
Through the ages from 12 and 16 school was something that was never easy for me and I had to really work at in order to succeed. However, by the ages of 17 and 18 I was a science tutor for ninth grade and it was a period in my life where I truly fell in love with teaching others. Service learning is a type of learning that comes from helping out the community and by helping people that you associate yourself with. It was a great achievement for me to teach others because school wasn’t always easy for me. Therefore, my whole senior year I tutored a ninth grade science class and later that year when I graduated I won an award for being the most dedicated tutor in my graduating class. It was truly one of the greatest highlights during my adolescence stage of

Being a student at Queen’s University taught me that the opportunities we seek out teach us about our character and more importantly, about our passions in life; they help us to define our goals and will lead us to be successful. I have been fortunate to gain valuable experience as a Queen’s student, orphanage volunteer, and drop in center volunteer. My experiences shaped my understanding of teaching and learning processes as I learned the valuable qualities that are exhibited by successful educators that establish supportive learning environments for their students. While working in Romanian orphanages this past summer, I learned how each child presents their own challenges as they learn, and communicate differently. In a short time with a great deal of patience and dedication I learned enough of the language as I led games, bible studies, and helped children with conflict resolution.…

This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Playing Make Believe It is three thirty on a monday afternoon as I board my yellow bus to go home after a day of school at Herbert Hoover Elementary. I walked through my front door, threw my blue butterfly backpack onto the hook, and ran directly up to my room. At the time, it could be more accurately referred to as my classroom. Inside yellow and blue painted walls with a chalkboard and cliche classroom posters, I taught my class of invisible students the exact same lesson Mrs. Molle taught that day in my first grade class.…
