The majority of people would label themselves optimistic. They live inside their happy bubble thinking nothing bad will ever happen, and that life will always go their way. The pessimist knows better and therefore will often regarded as a negative force. Society has all sorts of harsh names for the pessimist, a Negative Nancy, Debbie Downer, Worrywart, Killjoy, Party Pooper and so on. I am the opposite of most people. I am a proud pessimist. Most people have had a teacher or an employer call them into their office? Imagine their first thought? Was it, “Maybe I got an A on my exam,” or “Maybe I’m getting that promotion I applied for.” My first thought is always negative. I think “I failed the exam and have to retake the class,” or “I’m going to get fired.” I always think the worst in any situation, and I can’t no matter how I try come up with a positive thought. My first instinct is to prepare myself for the worst that way whatever happens I know I’m ready for it. I consider this a good trait to have. I’m not getting my hopes up and …show more content…
Is your first thought “This is going to be a fantastic day?” Every day I wake up to the sun and all its magnificence and think to myself “Please God, not again.” I then drag myself out of bed, and stagger like a zombie to my life source…coffee. I do not think to myself “Gee, self! Today is going to be a great day.” No, I am realistic. I wake up with a primal knowledge that it will be a horrific day. I will go to work, and probably get yelled at by some lovely person. Then I will run around in a frenzy the majority of the day. I most likely will have to work extra hours and then finally get to go home where the dog undoubtedly will have gotten in to the trash and so on. I am realistic about my day; I don’t sugar coat it for myself. This is a good attribute to have because I can realistically prepare myself for the day ahead, and move through my day without any
