My First Instinct As A Negative Force Essay

The majority of people would label themselves optimistic. They live inside their happy bubble thinking nothing bad will ever happen, and that life will always go their way. The pessimist knows better and therefore will often regarded as a negative force. Society has all sorts of harsh names for the pessimist, a Negative Nancy, Debbie Downer, Worrywart, Killjoy, Party Pooper and so on. I am the opposite of most people. I am a proud pessimist. Most people have had a teacher or an employer call them into their office? Imagine their first thought? Was it, “Maybe I got an A on my exam,” or “Maybe I’m getting that promotion I applied for.” My first thought is always negative. I think “I failed the exam and have to retake the class,” or “I’m going to get fired.” I always think the worst in any situation, and I can’t no matter how I try come up with a positive thought. My first instinct is to prepare myself for the worst that way whatever happens I know I’m ready for it. I consider this a good trait to have. I’m not getting my hopes up and therefore can’t be let down. Whenever I start something new I do not think of it in an optimistic manner. Quite the reverse, I think of all the negatives that will come with this new thing. For instance, this year I decided to try to finish my Associates Degree, so I decided to take two online classes. The classes I chose were Math and English, and my first thought while enrolling for the classes was, “This is going to cost me a fortune.” That…
