My First Home In Cowpens, South Carolina

My first home was in Cowpens, South Carolina. This small town really lives up to its name because of all the farms and cows located there. I have a few small memories of seeing cows appear in our front yard because they had wandered off from their pasture. Of course I don’t remember these things very clearly because I was just a baby and a toddler during my time in Cowpens.
I was a stubborn, red-faced, fat baby. Screaming, crying, and fainting from holding my breath too long were an everyday event for me. My stubbornness was top of the line. I would sit for more than an hour refusing to do something simple tasks like completing a cursive sheet, eating my broccoli, or picking up my toys. I was also unusually adventurous and strong. I started climbing out of my crib before I could even stand by myself.

I still remember first arriving at our new home and my first impression of it. I loved the grey brick house with its giant staircase, long halls, and big windows that reflected streams of light into our spacious living room. I loved the gigantic neighborhood with dozens of homes still being built into it. Now that years have passed, my home in Boiling Springs has remained the same, and I still love it just as much.
My immediate family consists of my funny dad, caring mom, and bubbly sister. I have always maintained a close relationship to everyone in my family, but my relationship with my sister is especially strong. When we were both younger we used to argue ALL the time. When she started attending school, I used to pretend she was still there with me, and I would have pretend arguments with her in the car after we had dropped her off. Now that we are both older, we enjoy talking to each other and always support each

While reading a group of short stories I became intrigued by how drastically different the relationships between siblings varied from one story to the next. In a couple of the stories the relationship was obviously based off of the siblings’ home life, while in others the dynamics of the relationship were hard to understand. How do sibling relationships affect someone long term? What is, or is not, important in order for a relationship between siblings to prosper? Why do some sibling relationships fail while others thrive?…

When I was young, my sister and I never got along well. Neither of us were afraid to voice our thoughts, but we had opposite personalities, so that was an enormous complication. She would constantly whine whenever I practice the violin or piano that I was too loud and it was drowning out the music she was listening to. In return, I would always retort that her music was too loud and distracting. Well, I never actually called it “her music”: I referred to it as “garbage”.…
